Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted December 23, 2023 Administrators Share Posted December 23, 2023 Which router are you using specifically?
Torkild
Netduma R3 The PS5 won't work either.. It does find the 5ghz from the NetdumaR3 and are connected to the router, but it cant connect to internet . "Can't obtain an IP address within the time limit" I tried connecting it with the 2.4ghz, but it got disconnected from the internet while playing.. One of the phone also dropped out from the 5ghz .. but after "forgetting" the network, and reconnected again it worked again. This is a small apartment's where the router is placed in the middel. There are less then 5 meters from the router to any of the devices. Walls are not concrete. No issues with any previous routers at all.
Torkild
Tried restarting router, and ps5 to. No use.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted December 23, 2023 Administrators Share Posted December 23, 2023 Have you split the bands then so 2.4/5GHz should be appearing separately? I've sent you a PM, upgrade to that, once complete factory reset from settings > troubleshooting and see if it is more stable then please
Torkild
I did split the bands.. to see if i could look it to the 2,4, but it didnt help. will test new firmware now.
Torkild
@Netduma Fraser wait, did u mean a factory reset after new firmware is installed ?
Torkild
Did install it the new firmware and did a factory reset. The computere can't find the Netduma, and the PS5 won't connect to the Netduma at all now. "Connecting to access point" and "failed to obtain IP address within time limit 😔 The PS5 ain't showing up under "Device Manger" either.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted December 23, 2023 Administrators Share Posted December 23, 2023 Have you changed any settings on the R3 after the factory reset at all? If you have any devices than can connect to the router do they have internet? Does the R3 show as having internet in Settings > WAN?
Torkild
@Netduma Fraser Yes. It's just the one computere with the Asus PCE-N1511N-Wireless card and the PS5 that can't connect properly. After a reboot, i managed to get the PS5 to connect trough 2.4gz. The computer can still find 10-12 other wireless networks close by, but can't find the Netduma
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted December 23, 2023 Administrators Share Posted December 23, 2023 Interesting, the WiFi card in the PC is old, it only supports b/g/n but that shouldn't be an issue. In WiFi settings set the width for 2.4GHz to 20MHz, can you connect the PC then?
DARKNESS
@TorkildI had the same issue PS5 before never got to a fix a except just connecting it to lan I believe it something to do with the PS5 wifi module though I could be wrong 😂

Torkild
@Netduma Fraser Unfortunately, yes. The computer can't find Netduma, but it find everything else. I did as you suggested as well I
Torkild
@DARKNESS, That's strange. Just hooked up my IPS supplier's router (haven't used it) and the PS5 connected to the 5gz at once. Then i tried the old nighthawk r7000 I used for a while, no issues at all. Bummer.. I can't use cable on the kids PS5 or computere. It Christmas's times and gaming is on the menu. The PS5 seems to work okay ish on the 2.4 doh. So that's something. 🙃
DARKNESS
@TorkildThe thing is it might show up fine for a bit but then it'll come back again @Netduma FraserI'll have to double check with the other router which I never did if this an OS issues etc

You can still use the R7000 as an access point if that allows you to have wifi on the PS5 and the old PC! Plus it will give it a second life. Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted December 24, 2023 Administrators Share Posted December 24, 2023 Interesting, could you enable guest WiFi and see if it is able to connect to that instead?
Torkild
@Fuzy Yeah, but no. It takes up space (live in a apartment). If I buy a new thing it should do everything the old did pluss more and better. If not, there's no point in "upgrading"
Torkild
@Netduma Fraser Tested, but to no avail. Computere finds every other net, but no netduma r3 guest network.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted December 24, 2023 Administrators Share Posted December 24, 2023 I did some research and did find others with the same WiFi card who had problems getting it to work with newer routers. As far as I can tell it was released sometime in 2011 and last driver update was 2015 so not sure how easy it'll be to do #2. I only found 3 potential solutions to this: Buying a newer WiFi adapter worked Rolling back the WiFi adapter in some cases works Disabling WiFi 6 on the router in some cases works We don't have a WiFi 6 toggle on the router so from our end I'll make a request to get that added in the new year if possible. Torkild
@Netduma Fraser I appreciate you help her. Thnx. I will test roll back the driver . Would be great to have an optioin to turn of wifi6 indeed. Will prob end up buying new Wi-Fi adapter, its old but its not in a super old rig Merry christmas from Norway 🎄

Torkild
@Netduma Fraser Couldn't roll back driver, so I solved the issue with buying a new Wi Fi network card Netduma Fraser and PharmDawgg
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted January 1 Administrators Share Posted January 1 Ah well it's good to hear that was the issue and not the router! Thanks for the update, Happy New Year!
