TxFrog33
normally my unloaded ping is 10 to 11 with duma OS 4 and R3 router its showing 15 now and I am getting A+ rating but in game experience is just not good bullet registration for example in Halo Infinite is so bad Is there a way to lower this I only have 4 devices my pc security 2 tvs. Im going to disable Steady Ping and try that.. im using Halo Infinite and Cloud gaming and Gaming in general under smart boost along with My device being on there as well. any Help would be amazing. Loved how simple setting up this R3 was compared to R2 Interface loads much quicker. Superb job on that end. AsNCo
TxFrog33
Also my jitter is 1.2 now on the R2 same settings basically I get about 0.24 jitterĀ
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted December 20, 2023 Administrators Share Posted December 20, 2023 Have you adjusted Congestion Control at all as that will help in this situation. It can be found in Ping Optimizer > Advanced
TxFrog33
NO cause I actually thought that feature was gone I will tweak a lil with that I appreciate it I had just got My R2 to a sweet place with my network and got teh I210 network adapter instantly lowered latency really love it. Thanks for the quick response also what is the latest firmware as I am on .20 nowĀ Netduma Fraser and Fairypusher
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted December 21, 2023 Administrators Share Posted December 21, 2023 Ah, there are lots of menus on the R3 so definitely take a look through, you never know what you may find! There is only one more version currently .21 but it only contains a fix for VLAN, nothing else
Alias 1aB
At this point, just let them work on getting ping optimizer fixed first. I think once that happens, we should be able to get better congestion control setting numbers. I manually have set mine to 70 for both up and down for now. Make sure you disable letting 3rd party speed tests bypass congestion control and set it to always on. Auto setting for congestion control has never worked for me going back to XR450. I ran the waveform bufferbloat text in edge browser on the Xbox series x and the latency stats were almost identical to being connected directly to the Humax fiber gateway. I played a few games of COD to test it out. Games were showing higher latency but it was absolutely playable. I was playing resurgence.

It was probably Steady Ping causing that higher ping, we have a YT video coming out shortly that will explain why the feature does this

Essentially it's syncing you up to the server better e.g. you have a 20ms ping to the server so that's what the server expects, you get a spike/jitter and the game server doesn't expect it which leads to hit detection/lag moments. Stabilizing the ping to sync you with the server means the whole game you'll have 1 consistent ping that won't change and give you a much smoother experience. I just finished watching the video on my lunch break, even my boss who is an officer of our IT department here at the bank was like "Man, this would be genius for video calls, especially with places we don't have fiber circuits available." I was very impressed with how it watches the initial jitter and then ramps it up to a stable sync with the server.

It's a super cool feature, the challenge is getting people to understand it and the benefits rather than "my ping is higher than it was on the R2" for example

I think it would be doable, probably a backend API update to run on Geo-Filter to see those servers. I believe zoom's IP's for their dedicated servers are public information as well. Truth be told, my fiber connection is super stable, however, I can tell when the servers are getting slammed or I get thrown onto a different server because I went from 30-40 kills with like 15 deaths pretty consistently to death city and "Omg, my shots are rubber!" lol. I think the more you guys promote the video on the forums the better it would be. Maybe sticky a thread with some explanation videos and how-to's on the top of the R3 support and the R3 Announcement running thread as well. Maybe save some headaches lol. Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted December 22, 2023 Administrators Share Posted December 22, 2023 That's very interesting, I'll definitely pass that on, thanks for the extra information. That's a good idea, will talk to the team about how best to approach it!

I had guys trying to drop shot me in those couple of games and I still got them before they got me. I have had many games with lower ping and died first. I don't have the fast twitch reflexes as younger people do any more but my aim is still true. So ping stabilizer could be the key. Time to educate and experiment. TxFrog33
i just don't understand why my baseline ping in the blufferbloat test is significantly higher then on my R2 or xr1000 its at least 4 to 5 seconds higher should this cause for alarm? am I doing something wrong or could the router just be causing more lag all together? Try disabling Steady Ping, have had some reports it might be causing that. In which case it is a bug as it should be isolated to the Geo-Filter.
