Nat problem

Hi Guys,

I have a problem with NAT, Xbox doesn't show what NAT I have. In COD MWIII I have moderate nat. The console is set to DHCP. UPnP is enabled. All ports forwarded for Call of duty.
It shows me that Port Forwarding is in active. I also tried DMZ with no changes.

Smart boost shows me that xbox is offline

And in Device manager it is online

This might be to do with the console being in sleep mode, if you hard reboot it by holding down the power button, then check after that does it show Open NAT/in Smart Boost?

No changes, I did as you wrote.

This is very strange because in some settings it shows Xbox online and in others offline

Close down the game completely then clear the MAC address in the Xbox settings then load up the game and see please.

Also have you setup the ISP modem/router to make sure the R3 gets an Open NAT?

I did as you wrote and still no changes. R3 is set as exposed host (open all ports) in ISP
Xbox is unable to check the NAT. In R3 xbox is online in some places and offline in others. And Smart Boost disappeared from the menu.

Are you using the Geo-Filter currently? If so, remove the device from the Geo-Filter, restart the console, then see if it appears open then.

Was there anything specifically you changed/did prior to SmartBoost disappearing? Could you get the logs from Settings > Troubleshooting > Advanced System Logs and post them here please? Once you've done that reboot the router, does it come back?

I think I'll do a Factory Reset and start again?

Thanks for that, in the meantime could you clear your browser cache/cookies and see if it appears correctly then?

Smart Boost appeared on the second browser. Xbox now has double NAT

Double NAT would indicate that the exposed host hasn't been setup correctly on the ISP router, if you double check the WAN IP on the R3 and match it with what you've set are they still the same?

Hi @Netduma Fraser,

After factory reset, I have Fully Open NAT. I still have the same problem in Geo Filter Xbox inactive, in Smart Boost it's online for a few seconds and then it shows offline. Port Forwarnig is still inactive

As someone with an ISP that forces a gateway without a bridge mode. I can confirm, I always have to restart the gateway after adding a new device to DMZ.

Thanks for the answer, but I did it several times and only factory reset helped

Great news on NAT. It can be quite sensitive in that if nothing is happening it'll show as inactive/offline, if you actually play a game on the console does it show its working then?

I have COD MW3 turned on and I move the pad. Still unchanged. Only in SmartBoost it appears online for a few seconds. Geo Filter and Port Forwarding are offline all the time

Reset the MAC address in the Xbox network settings then reboot it, does it work properly after that?

No changes, "inactive"Screenshot2023-12-15at18-33-48GamingDevices.thumb.png.c4fff4cf021885087a631357f0eb3e13.png

If you check the IP on the console itself and then check the Device Manager on the router for the XBOX device, do the IPs match?

192.168.77.145 I have set DHCP. Exactly the same on xbox and R3.

In device manager it shows online

Okay great, could you remove the port forwards, reboot the R3, wait 4 minutes, reboot the Xbox, wait a minute then do a test connection on the Xbox, then launch the game and check again please?

As you have an Open NAT and the port forwards aren't doing anything they're not needed and maybe confusing the router.

Same, Geo Filter "inactive"

Are you on the Xbox Insider Program by any chance?

I used to be, but I don't know if I still am

Edit: When I added it to GeoFilter, my PC also shows Inactive

Try setting your xbox to a custom port in the network settings. Then, forward that port so it uses something unique instead of the standard 3074 which MW also uses. Also, after adding ports to the R3, I would try and reboot the Modem/Router with the R3 powered down. Then after the ISP gateway turns on, bring the R3 back online. Also, what is the model of your ISP Gateway? I can see if there is a workaround for it.
