QoS and Traffic Prioritisation

Recommended Posts

What is the difference from Call of Duty and Call of Duty(PC)(as the PC one does not work with Geo Filter)

Also, how do I add just call of duty to traffic prioritisation as it is under uncategorised(which is full of loads of things I don't want prioritised)?

Call of Duty was for console but that's no longer needed and we would need to update the PC one to get that working again. Instead set your PC to a PlayStation in the Device Manager then re-add it to the Geo-Filter and it will automatically choose the Games Console service and allow you to filter. The groups are just a way to organize the services, it wouldn't actually prioritize everything in that category, just the service you picked. If that one doesn't work then you can add it using the Games Console service as well.

Can you add Call of Duty service or any services on their own into the bandwidth allocation, or traffic prioritisation?

You can't add it to Bandwidth Allocation just yet, but we're currently working on a solution for that.

In terms of Traffic Prio you can add it as a service. If it's not working great we may need to update it's DPI classification so let us know if that's the case and we can do that.

How do I add it as a service?

And also with the QoS, it says you can click to prioritise ping or bandwidth in the auto-setup, but nothing shows to tick either ping or bandwidth? And what does anti-spikes mean? Sorry for all the questions, trying to understand all the different parts

Click to add a rule, select the device then the services are listed on the next part of the box and you can find CoD there.

There is no tick box for this, you do so by choosing what is the minimum % you would be happy with your connection being limited to, so if you chose for example not to go below 90% then you're choosing bandwidth, if you go very low you're saying you're happy to sacrifice bandwidth if it will get you a great ping.

Your ping can spike so if it's constantly 20ms and then suddenly it goes up to 100ms for example, that is a spike, so enabling that option tries to prevent that happening.

Which router is this for specifically? It's best to start with a high value for Congestion Control (set to Always), say 95% then do a test, decrease by 10%, test, decrease by 10% etc, until you get to a value that is pretty good and then try 5% either side of that value to see if it can be improved. It's important to note that Download & Upload on Congestion Control don't have to be the same value and that you may have a better experience with differing values.
