low upload speeds on R2

not sure whats going on but on I'm only getting half on my speeds on the R2.....I have att fiber 1000u/1000d and when i do a speedtest on att site and on speedtest i'm getting around 850 up and 875 down on my XR500 but when I hook my R2 up and run tests I'm getting around 850 down and only like 400 up. I have my QOS disabled and my congestion control set to never when running my tests. I also looked under my device manager under port table and its showing my connections as full duplex and 1000mbits on all of my cat cables (my cat cables are about 8 months old so they are in good shape)

I disabled QOS through the 3 lines in the CC box....and yeah i saw you mention that to someone else in another thread when I was searching seeing others having this trouble so I looked and my protection options were already disabled....i never did that.

If you run a speedtest through Connection Benchmark, is upload also showing reduced speeds there or does it appear normal?

I also seem to get lower speeds on the benchmark …that’s why I stick with At&t speed test and speedtest.net

Thanks for letting me know.

Do you know if you require PPPoE, VLAN or DHCP identifiers in order to connect to the internet?

I’m pretty sure but not 100% on it but I believe att uses DHCP which I have my pc and ps5 up reserved in DHCP of that along the same lines

What is the model of your modem/router? Have you put the R2 in its DMZ if applicable or enabled modem/bridge mode on it? Are ALL devices connected to the R2?

My modem/router is from ATT which the model is a BGW210.....and yes I have DMZ'ed the R2 into their modem and I have bridged their router aka "IP Passthrough" I actually only have 3 devices connected I have a Ring, PC and my PS5...thats it so yes those are the only thing connected.

The Connection Benchmark feature uses this site for speed measurements and depending on your location etc it can be lower than expected - what do you get if you test directly on the site? https://speed.measurementlab.net/#/

As a test could you put your PC in the DMZ on the R2, run a speedtest.net test and then remove it right after please and let us know what you get

Ok so I cleared out any ports Mande sure my upon was disable but the pc alone in dmz …rebooted my modem and router and ran a speed test and got the same download at around 850 and my upload went up by 80 to about 480 instead of high 300s which is still pretty low.

however for some reason it played cod Cold War a lot better in DMZ haha …I started getting a lot of kills

Okay so basically same speeds with/without DMZ so it looks like you've reached the limit of the speeds the R2 will be able to offer you currently.

DMZ passes ALL traffic straight through to the specified device so no routing, no other devices to influence the connection etc but it is very unsafe for a PC to be in the DMZ so do make sure you disable that.

Im confused...I thought I read somewhere that the R2 can handle a gig....Why would it be reached at the limit of only 300 to 400 on upload but can handle the 900 download? Also, are you thinking its just the R2 ...so if i went out and say bought a more top tier router I would get the speeds I'm paying for?

Yes generally that is the case, however all connections/households are different so in some cases it can fall a bit short. However, we are making lots of improvements on firmware so I would recommend you sign up for Early Access: https://forum.netduma.com/topic/39415-introducing-early-access/ and when granted upgrade to the firmware, then factory reset, disable QoS fully and see if that allows for higher speeds.

It's quite possible a router with more powerful hardware would achieve higher speeds.

Thought I would give you guys a little update....I ended up getting ATT out here and they installed a new upgraded modem and cleaned up some old connections and stuff and installed a new ONT box for the modem and all my speeds came back and running smooth. So it was not anything to do with the router but thanks so much guys for helping me troubleshoot the router to be able to prove to ATT that it was in fact on their end.

That's brilliant to hear, thanks for the update! As the issue is now resolved I'll close this topic. Feel free to start another if you have any other questions or issues and we'll be happy to help!
