Netduma R2 bad internet

Hello,

I will assume that I need to set something up to make it work better.

Since I started using the R2 there is a weird delay on my devices, when I click even to open YouTube it takes about 1-2 seconds to get any data but it loads fast when it starts loading.

It's also not one website but all of them including apps. Download is also somehow only 1/3 of max bandwidth even now, when everyone is sleeping. It doesn't matter if it's a game download, torrent or Google drive download.

It's really annoying and I expected something else from this router.

I don't know where the issue is.

First of all run through this guide, that should get your speeds up and may speed up the loading of sites as well:

http://support.netduma.com/en/support/solutions/articles/16000077073-dumaos-optimal-settings-guide-qos

Also what firmware version are you on currently?

Maybe this has been thought of Fraser but you guys may find it helpful just including some of this in the manual in an updated format. Alot of the requests are sometimes the same so i feel like stuff like this could be helped by explaining this in the manual no? Just trying to help :) See this issue alot and i know you do so maybe just re design the manual or website to include more stuff like this? vpn related stuff too maybe? kind of off topic but yeah. 🙂

Yeah it would be great to update the manual to include any FAQs, I'll suggest this to the team moving forward!

Yes! Like the normal questions about download and upload speeds.. QOS.. vpns could probably fit in there to somewhere.

I had done this already, I turned it off and I still download things with 10mb/s instead of 32mb/s. The sites run the same, if I unplug the router everything works normal. When I plug in the router i can only do 10mb/s on my PC and the websites have a delay when doing anything.

I pay for 250k, and should get 30-32MB/s, testing? Any download I'm doing is maxed at 10-11MB/s. You're trying to convince me that the "download server" is the issue, I plugin the LAN cable from the router to my PC and I download the same thing with 30MB/s. I plug it back into the router and it's 10-11MB/s.

I wonder how the Device Manager is supposed to help but ok.

For downloading yes that would be about right. I'm not trying to convince you of anything, I'm trying to ascertain whether your speeds are being reduced or not and how you're downloading etc. The more information I have to work with the easier it will be to resolve the issue.

  1. Are you using PPPoE, VLAN, DHCP identifiers or IPv6?
  2. Just to clarify, how did you disable QoS exactly?
  3. What is the model of the modem/router the R2 is connected to?
  4. How is that router set to pass traffic straight through to the R2? E.g. modem/bridge mode, passthrough, DMZ
  5. Are ALL devices connected to the R2?

Can you provide a screenshot of the Device Manager table view from the router interface please?

Sorry, I got a new laptop and forgot to come back.

1. I'm using IPv6.
2. Sorry I said it wrong, I disabled "Congestion Control".
3. FritzBox 7430
4. I think it doesn't have those functions.
5. Yes

You're on quite an old firmware version so I would first suggest you upgrade: https://forum.netduma.com/topic/38047-new-r2-firmware-30394/ and once complete (5 mins after upload) factory reset for a fresh install.

It has Exposed Host in the Port Forwarding section which is essentially the DMZ. Copy the WAN IP from the R2 System Information page, then put that in the exposed host on the Fritz.

Click the :menu icon on the Device Manager panel, switch to table view and provide a screenshot please.

I've downloaded the new firmware, and where do I find out how to update it?

Yeah I found it by myself, first place I was looking was "System Information" because usually Android also shows the Firmware version and also has a button to "update" there.

Yeah everything works fine now, I can download with full speed.

My Razer Blade has no ethernet ports so I'm using WIFI, 30.51MB/s atm.

I don't understand why one of my computer's has a problem with the router. It connects with the router but has no internet. While everything else has internet.

Might be an IP conflict, in LAN Settings give the PC a reserved IP, apply, then reboot the PC and see if that resolves the issue.

It will be secure as the R2 has a built in firewall so it's perfectly safe

Your Forum is broken it showed me random quotes of posts that I can not delete.

The router lost internet again and I'm using my phone's internet. I have contacted you weeks if not months ago that I have issues with my router.

My patience hit its limit, I don't want this router because this issue couldn't be fixed after weeks/months. I did expose the ports, fixed IPs and it loses internet while my Fritz has internet.

This router doesn't work for me and I wanted to give it back weeks ago but you tried to help me, my patience is exhausted and I want to send this router back and get a refund.

Sorry to hear you're having issues with the forum, are you possibly able to provide a screenshot of what you're seeing?

Have all devices lost connection or is it just wireless devices?

Are you able to access the router's interface while the connection is lost? To do this go to 192.168.77.1 in your web browser.

If you reboot the router, does that restore you connection again?

If you'd like to enquire about returning your R2 please send an email over to [email protected] with your original order number.
