XR1000 wifi connection problem

Recommended Posts

This happened twice on my playstation 4, it loses connection via 2.4ghz but when I check the router, it shows that the console is connected so I went back and try to connect the console to the internet and it fails to do so, this issue happens to my smart tv as well and the tv is connected via 5ghz.

I thought that maybe upgrading to the latest firmware which is v1.0.0.58 will fix things but it didn't and somehow made it worse so I reverted back to firmware v1.0.0.52, please help because I do not want to reboot my router every time I lose a connection to one of my smart devices, thank you in advance!

Just for information, when I do change the firmware on the router, I always reset it to factory default.

Do any other devices drop connection or is it just those 2 devices?

Do devices connected to the lan side also drop connection?

Have you checked the logs for any indication of the issue?

Just to double check, it sounds like you have disabled Smart Connect so you manually connect devices to 2.4/5GHz is that correct? Does there seem to be any correlation as to when it happens e.g. using a lot of bandwidth so downloading on the console or streaming 4k etc?

Smart connect is disabled yes, and for the second question, it only actually happens when I switch on the ps4 from rest mode, pretty much the same thing from the smart tv's, when we turn it on there's no internet.

This does not occur everyday, it happens after 3 or 7 days when i reboot the router.

- After the firmware upgrade, more devices gets disconnected

- I believe that wired devices have connection, only the wifi I have issues with

- I just did a fresh firmware swap to .52 so I have no logs as of yet

Interesting so it's probably having trouble determining that it's gone online after rest mode - if on the device you do a speed/connection test it should pounce into action, does that happen?

I will try this when I get off from work

I have just tried your recommendation, the ps4 was connected to the internet when I did the connection test and it failed, after the failure it won't reconnect again unless I have to reboot.

I tried it on the smart tv as well, so far after the connection test it's still connected to the internet

So i turned the ps4 off and I found this on device manager, I tried deleting the ps4 when it is offline and gave me "Unable to delete device because it is online", even though I turned the ps4 off, not on rest mode.

I tried to reconnect the ps4 to the internet while I am checking on device manager, no luck unless I have to reboot, even though it says on device manager that the console is connected.

Have you performed a factory reset yet?

when you jump about with different firmwares sometimes it’s best to perform a factory reset to clear out code.

Good suggestion above because that latest version actually contains an improvement to WiFi stability so is definitely worth upgrading and then doing a factory reset to see whether it is more stable for you

What bandwidth are you using on 2.4? 20Mhz or 40Mhz?

when you stated a reset are you using the rear pinhole or the software option?

- 20/40 Mhz coexistence enabled

- Software option

Please reset with the rear pin as it’s a mechanical reset and test again. It’s the reset recommended by NG and will clear out the old code.

If that fails try dropping the throughput down on 2.4 (mode) and test.

Thanks, I’ll give it a try, currently I can’t do it right now because members in the house are using the internet but I’ll report back after the manual reset and test.

My PS4 can't do wifi like, at all anymore. I had to wire it. Idk if it;s the console itself or what because my switch, 9 wifi bulbs, nest, nest thermostat, and like 4 androids have no issues as of late.

See if it can connect to the ISP router, if it can't then likely a console issue
