So I have cofigured my VPN in the hybrid VPN tab (I am with ExpressVPN), the netduma page says it is connected to the VPN server i chose, however when I apply it to a device and then check my IP whilst using the VPN it still comes up with my original IP address which tells me its not working properly? Can somebody tell me what im doing wrong please.

How have you added the device to the VPN exactly? Can you provide a screenshot please?

Set the VPN IP as the DNS in the router WAN Settings then apply, reboot the router and see if the devices get the correct IP then.

Will that force all of my devices to go through the VPN, or only the ones I have selected on the right?

They won't go through the VPN because they're not directly connected to it but they'll use it as the DNS. Alternatively you could try applying it manually on each device.

I have a pureVPN, and a HMA VPN account that I use on the R2, both were working on Wednesday (26/02/2023), none of them work today? both accounts are still active, and I changed nothing.

I have rebooted and factory reset, to see if that fixes the problem. It didn’t. Has something changed?

Nothing has changed as far as I am aware, the config files will be out of date and we'll need to update them, in the meantime you can get the config files from the providers and use the Advanced Setup instead to connect.

I did use the advanced function, though couldn’t get that to work either, it was really strange, because I left it for about an hour, went back to it..... (ah epiphany) I did download new config files, that explains it, didn’t know that they would be changed, though now thinking about it its kind of obvious. Though HMA still doesn’t work, and just seen a thing on Flashrouters.com "Please note: HMA no longer allows router based integration, please visit our top recommended VPNs.” Is this right, they never mentioned it, I have just renewed with them too. All the help files still list the same repository address for the config files, though when I go to the address it just says failed.

Hope this isn’t the case, or if it is this info maybe useful to other users.I have raised a support ticket with them so will update when they get back to me. They owe me a refund!

I think that will be regarding routers with complex VPN setups that connect to HMA without a config loaded on the router itself. In theory it shouldn't affect HybridVPN as it's just an OpenVPN client. Contact HMA and ask them if they can provide you with the config files and see if they work.

So still no word back from HMA. I have scoured their help files, and all the links OVPN are broken.

Pure VPN connects to the servers, but then I can’t connect to the internet at all, I have tried all the uk and Ireland servers. with no joy, I really need to use a uk server.

Why isn’t this easy. Pure VPN have a help page for the PS5 its hilarious (https://www.purevpn.com/blog/ps5-vpn/), you should have a look. It claims you can connect your Mac/PC to ethernet and your PS5 to ethernet and you will be protected by a VPN on your PS5, also claims that the PS5 have a VPN setting in wifi settings.

Can someone please tel lme what VPN service they are using on the R2, and does it work?

You could look at trying PureVPN of Express VPN, I see a lot of users on the forum using those. Perhaps see if you can get a free trial and let us know if you have any issues with it?

I am using PureVPN! Its really weird, the servers were connecting on the R2, though it was blocking me from the internet.I had reset the R2, and factory reset, (that stuff gets boring real fast)), and still had the same issues.

I have switched to my X700 and using exactly the same settings, I can get onto the internet unhindered (whilst the VPN is active), Though I really want to use the R2 because of Dumaos3 (not having a pop at you guys), and would like to be able to use VPN on the R2, or on something with Dumaos3

I'm going to have an experiment with PureVPN/configs and will get back to you with my findings, hopefully a working config!
