Adblock - Stopping Sites from Loading

Are there any ways to overcome the issue where sites don't load on mobile? For example, with Adblock and defaults set, BestBuy on my iPhone does not load via Safari. My wife has also noted some sites look like they never completely finish loading (to be fair she goes to sites with lots of ads). 

This behavior is not present on my PiHole (which I'm not using because it seems to be impacted by DNS Rebind Protection that I can't turn off https://discourse.pi-hole.net/t/why-wont-pi-hole-work-with-dns-rebind-protection-enabled/3142).

 

I'm on 3.0.179. I suppose a setting to turn of DNS Rebind Protection would be nice or if I can figure out why legitimate sites won't when the ad domains are being blocked from their page.

I just use Wipr on my iPhone and iPad and Ublock Origin on my iMac, much easier and has cosmetic filters too and no DNS rebind issues.

Please let us know specifically which services/sites aren't working with the default lists. We can test them and find the correct domains to whitelist. This updated whitelist can then be pushed out to all users via a cloud update.

It's www.bestbuy.com on iPhone. I tried on Safari and on Chrome for iOS and both do not load the page.

It works fine on desktop web clients.

@Netduma Alex what is the proper way to create custom whitelist? There are so many sites that don’t load on iPads/mobile devices. www.ups.com, www.metacritic.com etc. easy to test.

All of those sites I was able to load so I could reproduce it. Metacritic was noticeably slower to load as it blocked all the ads. I did create a whitelist for this and confirm it loaded faster. Here is what I did and should work for you both:

1. Switch to Whitelist Tab
2. Click Add list
3. Change type to domains
4. Give it a name
5. Enter the sites you're having issues with e.g:
   metacritic.com
   bestbuy.com
6. Click add
7. Try to load the site and it should work

This worked for most of them. Can you try tools.usps.com on mobile Safari specifically? I have it added to my whitelist and it's not allowing the site to load. When I switch to LTE it loads quickly.

Is there any reason why the AdBlock is so aggressive for mobile where it doesn't allow the sites to even load but works fine on desktop clients?

I can't reproduce it at the moment but I will keep trying. The full domain for it is https://tools.usps.com/go/TrackConfirmAction_input so try adding that to the whitelist and see if it works. I'm not sure at present, it must be something in the block lists. We'll investigate.
