I mean on the actual console settings, what does it say?

Also what is your exact physical setup and how have you previously setup to ensure an Open NAT?

I don’t have a console I’m on pc but I think it’s game related because it happend to my friend too

Quite possibly! Disable the Geo-Filter, does that affect the NAT Status?

It was the game it changed back when I logged out and back in thanks though, another quick question where do I put in port forwarding number cheers

Port forwarding can be tricky but you can find it in Network Settings > LAN > Port Forwarding

If you have an open NAT already then no need to use port forwarding.

Before i bought the R2 i didnt have issues joining people for games, now i do. i now have a type 2 NAT and it is moderate. how do i open my NAT type? how do i use port forwarding?

Also, i turned on DMZ and there was possibly missing numbers for the DMZ ip? i could add numbers but when i took them away to restore it back to what it was and save it, it said invalid ip. how can it be invalid when that's what it originally was?

when i go to the port forwarding section in network settings, it says add rule. but i do not know what to add for a rule?

Also, will it say it is NAT open? or how will i know if i am good or not and this all works? will i need to restart my stuff? the game said it was trying to use port 3074. but when i researched what ports to open, 3074 is an xbox one port? for port forwarding is it udp? tcp? or do both? is there a discord for all this tech help too? i seem to now have so many questions...

Hey, welcome to the forum!

NAT Type 2 is open, it just means that you are connected behind a router instead of a modem (NAT Type 1). As above for DMZ. The problem you are probably having is that you're using the Geo-Filter and trying to connect to friends but you haven't allowed them. See the bottom part of this guide and see if it resolves your issue: http://support.netduma.com/en/support/solutions/articles/16000077072-dumaos-optimal-settings-guide-geo-filter

Even when I turn the geo filter off, my friend can't join on me nor I on him. I have tried to go into the port forwarding and make a rule to open up the 3074 port, and that hasn't worked. Under the uPnP tab demonware has port 3074 listed however. We still can't join up on each other and this was never an issue before the R2. I will try the link when I get home but please advise otherwise. I even tried to go into the dmz tab and add my ip into it. The game says I'm moderate and it tried using 3074 to play the game and to try the dmz, port forwarding and uPnP option to fix this. This is coming straight from the network tab in the game lobby.

i have a comcast/xfinity modem. and yes i put the ps4 ip into the dmz line. i got the ip from the network connection details in my settings. comcast tech support are morons, to be honest, they didnt even know what a netduma R2 was. So i doubt they will be much help.

i have no idea the model. they only have 2 though, its their "newer" one that came out a few months back. it is the square short one NOT the tall thinner one.. and yes it provides wifi. before i got the R2, i was using the modem for wifi and hard wired in for gaming. i got the R2 so i could get better ping on my servers and stop getting euro servers that make me have a 200 ping. now all i want to do is be able to connect in lobbies with my friends but this moderate NAT type is killing that, and i can not open it up for some reason. i only play with a few people, and one of my main friends is the one i can't connect to, and he cant join my lobby for blackout. we have ps4

into the xfinity dmz? how do i access that? so none of this is in the dumaos log in where the geo filter and all the other settings are? and once i put the WAN ip into the xfinity dmz, i wont have to do anything else? i can remove the port forwarding rule, the ps4 ip from the R2 dmz? or do all those things need to be in place as well?

Yes that's right, there should be a sticker somewhere on the Xfinity modem with an IP address to access the interface and then you can put the R2 WAN IP in the DMZ. You can remove those from the R2 once you've done it and UPnP should open ports as required but if not you can use either DMZ or port forwarding to ensure an open NAT.

well i will try to access the modem's gateway with the ip address and access the advanced settings for that dmz. however you said i could use either DMZ or port forwarding to ensure an open NAT. however, that has been what i was doing and they were not working. the ones inside the R2 network settings. i have already set a port forwarding rule for port 3074 and 3076 and added the ps4 ip to the dmz section of the R2. it didnt open it up at all. so i am hoping that accessing the xfinity gateway and that DMZ will do the trick. if not, what do i do???

The R2 WAN IP in the Xfinity DMZ is required, without it it doesn't matter what settings you changed on the R2 for NAT, they wouldn't work. Once you've done that, either UPnP on its own on the R2 or port forwarding/DMZ will allow you to get an open NAT.

Thank you for all your help! I do believe this has worked. My NAT is open now, and at first I still couldn't connect on my friend, but then all of a sudden we were able to. I'm just glad it works, now I can host and use my geo filter so we don't get bad servers or euro servers (no offense) with 200 ping

Have you added him to your allow list on the Geo-Filter? If you haven't you'll need to do that if you use the Geo in Filtering Mode. If you have done that then his IP may have changed so you may need to do it again.
