I see that a lot of people are having similar problems as myself with XR500. Every lease renewal seems to hard power the router off and reboot. My router has disconnected me a total of 10 times in less than 2 hours. But if I hardwired into the ONT box, I have solid internet. This is extremely ridicoulous that I paid so much for a router that can't even load the basic apps that it came with ( new issues of R-app not starting as well recently). I will suggest turning off the auto update in case it is on: once I did that it stayed connected for a bit longer. but I still have a disconnect at least once a day. Worst money spent ever. Will never touch Netgear hardware personally. Pas solutions were the typical answer, its not us its them. Experience says this router is crap, and needs a severe 90% sale price due to half functionality.

Hi there. Sorry to hear of your problems. We’ll do our best to help hear but it’s not a DumaOS specific issue, so I would recommend contacting official Netgear support. 

First question is which firmware version do you have installed? If you click the ‘i’ in the top right corner you can see it. 
 

Second question is have you changed any network settings from their default? For example, using a different wan technology other than DHCP.

Its the most recent version-XR500 V2.3.2.56, and no I have not adjusted any settings, Its all setup as default. The most I change is whether xbox is on strict searching for QOS or not.

Did you perform a full reset after the update or at any point?

you could try reinstalling .56 over the top followed by a reset using the rear pin method. Set up again without using a save cfg.

I have done a full hard reset. I held the button down for over 60 seconds just to be extra thorough. I even unplugged the ont box. And reset the entire network. I have spectrum coming out, but since this issue has happened more than once in the past 2 years, Hope's are not high

If you go to >Settings >Setup >LAN Setup  - what is your DHCP lease time set to?

 

Also do you have a Nintendo DS or Nintendo Switch on your network?

I dont have the option to change that in those settings. And no, no Nintendo

Firstly, the fact that the whole router reboots every time this happens is extremely unusual, so I would suggest getting a replacement if we can't do anything - which is likely given the severity of the issue. Go to Settings > Monitoring > Connection Status, what does DHCP lease obtained/expires say? Are you using PPPoE, VLAN or IPv6? If you go to System Information, does the WAN IP show your public IP or a local IP?

Thanks, doesn't seem to be related to the WAN lease then. Do try disabling IPv6 and see if that helps at all. Otherwise set LAN reservations for some of your devices in LAN Settings and see if the ones with reserved IPs stayed connected.
