XR500 wifi boost

Recommended Posts

You can’t change the ariels or alter the max allowed transmit power. If you can’t place the router more central then NETGEAR do a range of extenders with some being able to be AP or extender.

You might get better range by turning off SmartConnect, and then turning off the 5 GHz channel. Forcing your devices to use the 2.4 GHz channel will improve range compared to the 5 GHz channel but will decrease speed a bit

Turning off 5Ghz wont make 2.4Ghz stronger SmartConnect should have no effect on TX strength at all but as Alex says at least you can choose the channel you want. 2.4Ghz is the most commonly used bandwidth with the most interference, so basically choose what suits your needs but no you cannot increase TX strength. At 30 Meters with my router (not a XR range router) I get 651Mbps on AC and N devices. The XR should not be that far behind, position is really essential, so aim for the middle of your home at the highest point that's sensible. like a top shelf or such like.

So if i use WiFi extenders that could help??

That would help yes but it depends on what kind they are - if you use ones that are powerline adapters essentially then the quality will depend on how good the wiring is in your home.
