Bert
An idea for the R1 might be to make it usable as a standalone geofilter. I don't know if this is possible but ideally have it operating as a switch where you can set the geofilter, so you could simply hook it up between your playstation/PC and your main router. R1 was a great product for it's time but the features, mainly wifi are outdated and I have never been able to make it work on higher bandwidth connections, 100 mbit+. So I have replaced it with a XR500 but really it would be very usable if we could simply use it as a standalone geofilter
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted July 27, 2019 Administrators Share Posted July 27, 2019 I mean technically you could do this if you disabled QoS fully and disabled DHCP on the router and gave the console a static IP. QoS off should definitely give you over 100mbps.
Bert
This would still give you double NAT though, which is what I am trying to avoid I was tinkering with it today behind my XR500 and I get 300Mbit no problem in DHCP mode on standard factory settings. It's just in PPPoE mode where it gives an issue and I need that even with the ISP's original equipment set up in bridge mode. Then the game runs great but my overall bandwidth is limited to 55 mbit/s even with no QoS running. Setting it up in DHCP again gives double NAT. Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted July 27, 2019 Administrators Share Posted July 27, 2019 If you put the R1 in the DMZ of the main router then that should help. We're restricted with PPPoE unfortunately on the hardware so theres not much we can do there unfortunately.
Administrators Netduma Alex Posted July 29, 2019 Administrators Share Posted July 29, 2019 I like the idea. Might need to be a separate product or a feature of a future product.
