zombitroid
When I set my bandwidth, do I put in the speeds advertised by my ISP, or the actual top speeds that I can get on speedtest.net? Because I know that my isp advertises 20 mb download but I can only get like 16. What do I put in, 16, or 20?

zombitroid
Ok. I think I understand now. I will put in my advertised speeds of 20 down .89 up, even though I get 20% subtracted from those numbers on speedtest net. Thanks guys for your help, I didnt understand this before. zombitroid
So lukasz you just use the speeds on speedtest.net? you dont use the advertised speeds?
Zennon
I do not know why it is said to put your advertised up to speeds in that case it will not calculate right when you pull the sliders you will not get 70% of your speed etc if you do this. It is just been repeted I am not calling any one out for saying so I put my real world speed test in so it works to best of it's ability. I pay for 80/20 but get at the moment 55/17 it would be crazy for me to put 80/20.
zombitroid
Ah that clears it up. That makes way more sense. You never get your full advertised speeds so you cant put them into that bandwidth page. You have to multiply your ADVERTISED speeds by .8 to get what speeds you are really getting. RADDY1993
I did not say advertised speeds i said speed that my router is getting which is lower than my advertised speed just encase some of you got confused. No hostility intended but just wanted to clear that up lol.
Zennon
It was not you that said it raddy Like i say i do not blame anyone for saying it as i see this being said quite often one of the developers so it just being repeted. It does not make sense to me to do this though.
bagsta69
I fell foul of this a few weeks ago and in the end to get my figures I plugged in my old homehub router with no R1 connected and did several speed tests at speedtest.net. Unplugged the homehub and plugged in the R1 and put in my figures from there.
