ugotstretched Posted March 11, 2018 Posted March 11, 2018 With the R1 the only way i could get the fios on demand to work was to enable deep packet processing, this severely hindered my connection but i dealt with it. With the nighthawk as my primary router and my verizon router connected to it i once again get no on demand service, keep getting a not available message. Also when i drop my bandwidth on certain devices and disable the share feature nothing happens. I know my way in and out of the R1 and these seem to be bugs. As of now ive spent $300 to slighly enhance my wifi. I have 30 days to decide whether im keeping this router or not. I hope i can get some help. Its late here in NJ USA, check back later thanks
ugotstretched Posted March 11, 2018 Author Posted March 11, 2018 https://youtu.be/2q50b8KwAZ8 this video i believe this explains some of the on demand issues. Not sure why deep packet processing on the R1 fixes it.
Administrators Netduma Admin Posted March 11, 2018 Administrators Posted March 11, 2018 Hi Stretched - I’m surprised disabling DPI on the R1 would have made a difference - it just analyses packets so it shouldn’t impact FIOS. For QoS issue - are you using IPv6? If yes, please switch to IPv4 As the video describes, are you direct to the ONT now and using a MoCa bridge? They usually require some sort of authentication. If your problem persists, I recommend you contact Netgear’s 24/7 live support. They handle the settings side of the router and will have a lot of experience with questions like this. https://www.netgear.com/support/contact.aspx
ugotstretched Posted March 11, 2018 Author Posted March 11, 2018 Ya bro, was on the phone with them for 2 hours had no clue. Not sure why deep packet processing fixes the issue. Im directly into the ONT. Crazy stuff going on. Im also on ipv4.
Administrators Netduma Admin Posted March 11, 2018 Administrators Posted March 11, 2018 For the QoS - do you have PPPoE on the Nighthawk? And I assume you have your correct bandwidth speeds entered in Anti-Bufferbloat’s options? Also, after updating your bandwidth allocations are you clicking ‘Update Distribution’?
Administrators Netduma Admin Posted March 11, 2018 Administrators Posted March 11, 2018 Do you have a ticket number that you raised with Netgear? We can follow this up with them for you
redwing497 Posted March 11, 2018 Posted March 11, 2018 Just a question. How do you have your XR500 set up with the FiOS provided router? Can you describe it?
ugotstretched Posted March 13, 2018 Author Posted March 13, 2018 I habe the ethernet directly from the ont to the router

redwing497 Posted March 13, 2018 Posted March 13, 2018 I habe the ethernet directly from the ont to the router Ok. Do you still have the FiOS router connected and is a COAX cable also running from the ONT to the FiOS router?
