kevo Posted September 3, 2017 Posted September 3, 2017 been trying to play cod lately and this is all i get most of the time. i dont have this problem with any other shooter i play besides this one. i see alot of people post low pings games i cant seem to find nothing but 50 plus ms games and when i do find one low ping game its 20 ms and then it spikes up to 50 or 60. i dont ran ping plotter to various websites and everything is good but for gaming its crazy bad

But there's also a 160ms dedicated server here in California as well. Crazy high, as my only guess for that server have to be taking advantage of the 60hz since it's new for the franchise probably got to get it right with their engine.

mountainping Posted September 3, 2017 Posted September 3, 2017 best for me has been 20 then it jumps to 50 then 60 lmao keep it real. it could be a number of things... my guess is its your internet line, or modem they provided to you... find the model number & look your modem up online. check if it has an Intel Puma 6. <- that is the root cause of a lot of peoples ping spikes. cheers

mountainping Posted September 3, 2017 Posted September 3, 2017 neither i got the tp link 7610 modem and my line is fine ive ran plenty of test its just these shitty servers i dont have this problem on titantall 2 or bf1 next guess would be your distance from the closest server. these games run hybrid, part dedicated server when you can connect and enough people to connect to one, and then peer2peer. could also be your connecting to a peer2peer when those ping spikes occur. for instance, on Sledgehammer games (Advanced warfare, WWII) my connection to people doesn't feel the best that it can be, though when i play COD BO3, they have a server very very close to my location. as where AW & WWII do not have a server very close by unfortunately.
mountainping Posted September 3, 2017 Posted September 3, 2017 under 20 ms you did not ask, though my base ping to google is about 11ms.. when i hit a BO3 server very close to me , my ping to it is around 16ms (which is the lowest you can be at in a cod game).when im at that 16ms mark my shots hit instantly, feels like im playing on LAN. these are the instances where i end up seeing people before they see me.

I get 8ms ping to the uk south coast call of duty server and trust me it isn't anything like playing lan, the games engine and they way it handles lag is garbage, one minute smooth as butter the next feels like im behind everybody else, check my ping on netduma and its 8ms, until they invest in a new engine and high end dedicated servers, then im afraid the cod franchise is heading one way and it certainly isn't up.
