Nat Type Strict, and still saying i'm connected to another router

Recommended Posts

so i got the netduma, and under device manager it says i'm connected to another router.  i called my isp to have them put it into bridge mode (that was a pain) and they finally were able to do it.  i don't see my wifi broadcasts on my modem/router from the isp, and my netduma has internet connection and is producing a signal.  When i go to device manager on the netduma it still says i'm connected to a router.... my nat type is strict and cannot connect to online COD games.  do i need to buy my own modem in order for the netduma to work?

is the router listed below a blue box? If so that is your isp router/modem as it only displays that if it is a router/modem and not a modem. Make sure you place the ip address of the netduma into the isp routers dmz, disable port forwarding rules on it also and upnp and disable all wifi functions and have everything running through the netduma. any other problems post back here.

yes, the WAN ip address was listed under the blue box.  I logged into my router/modem.  wifi is disabled, upnp is unticked and i put the wan ip address in the dmz host section along with port forwarding deleted on my modem/router from isp.  i'll restart my netduma, and see what happens.  thanks

you should turn off both devices, restart isp router and wait a fwew mins then reboot the netduma. Hope you are sorted.

restarted both, and still showing that i'm connected to another router.  i'm going to buy a stand alone modem and see if that works.  I was going to get just a modem anyway so i can return the rented one.  we'll see if that works.

yeah, it will always show you are connected to another router because you are. It allows you to access your isp router's interface. What isp do you have and in what country are you?

The main question is do you now have an open nat?

You don't need to do that. As above that message will always appear if you're connected behind a router. It's not an error or anything to worry about. Since you've done the DMZ do you have an open NAT?

i ended up buying a separate modem.  i did the setup and now i have an open nat.  i'll have to tweak the netduma and see what optimal settings are for infinite warfare.  i usually only play fps games so that's the only reason i bought the router.  the router does work well with just regular wifi to everything else.  i have it wired straight to my xbox one, so hopefully that works better than just regular wifi.  thanks for the help

weird ping spikes and speed slow downs... Router will still work fine, but you'll have strange things happening with your ping.

I recommend the TP-Link TC-7610

i can always return the router i bought, it's not a big deal.  just want the best experience i can get with this router.  I'll look at see if the router you provided is on my compatible list of routers i can use for timewarner/spectrum.  thanks again for all your help.

Nah I get 240 down with it... any restriction is done by your isp for no reason if that's the case

i just ordered the modem you suggested.  should be here in 2 days.  i'll update when i have it installed

Lol ok... hopefully TWC doesn't limit your speeds with it. I've heard of them doing that with certain modems when the modem can actually do double or triple what they limit it to for no reason.

sorry it's late, but now for some reason i can't connect to infinite warfare.  I can't seem to get in a match at all now.  not sure if it has to do with me drinking and messing with the netduma settings, but i even expanded my search area and still no dice.  i configure the router on the fly, and i'm assuming it's instantaneous once i've made changes....

Sometimes the geo-filter gets stuck... Reboot the router

Has a reboot fixed it as MoD advised?
