ColonicBoom
Not sure why my PC is usually not on wifi well okay correction laptop but it shouldn't affect things when it's not connected via LAN. What do you mean? Are you testing over wifi? The first graph looks pretty horrible but the 2nd one, while not great, is not nearly as bad. It looks like about 5ms of jitter in the flatter parts. That little red triangle is where you dropped onto a different Twitter server I think, things seem to stabilise a lot after that. Can you run another 10 mins to Twitter and another to something else? Not sure what off the top of my head, I'd use the BBC website over here but that's no good for you. No harm in trying Google or Bing (if that's still a thing) or something like that. Also, try Reactive 70/70. And then try testing straight from your modem/hub which will rule out other links in the chain.
bbursley
No the laptop was connected via LAN. I have wifi always shut off on it. It's weird how it switched and seemed to stabilize. I had a feeling jitter was a issue but is 5ms to much? I'll have to run another one here in a bit when everyone's asleep though.
bbursley
Is there any way to tell where the jitter actually is?
bagsta69
Have a look at the individual hops but be careful as some will report a bad result but thats just because they do not respond to that particular request.
bbursley
Ah, I think colonic boom is right that I generally do get about 5ms jitter in general. Often that results in just constant stupid hitmarkers for no apparent reason. I mean yes I do have good/decent kds in most of the cods, over a 2.0+ in IW and managed to get a nuclear, a 2.2 in bo3 still almost got a nuke even earlier, a 3ish KD on ghosts which is usually where I do my best consistently against almost anyone for some reason even on cable. So I mean I do okay, there's just alot of unecessary hitmarkers and instantly dying at times. Gets really annoying when your about to drop big streaks and you just die to someone in a split second and can't even pull your gun up sometimes lol. Idk I don't think I'll ever be able to get rid of that jitter. If it wasn't for that I think I could do alot better overall of course
bbursley
Like when I go do ping tests on DSL reports it shows about 5ms sometimes as high as 9....That's usually when I get some really sh***y matches where I'll die instantly to everyone. I've asked my ISP about routing and they stupidly tell me oh the routing has to do with xbox (this is coming from low level tech support mind you). Zennon
Wow that was strange the post above mine was you asking how to do it with non of the others that I see now, I look like a right raving nutter haha. You have 25ms spikes every 4 mins in the second plot on top of your base ping, that would cause an issue while trying to kill.
bbursley
Well, the first one was with the spikes, and then as colonic or whoever mentioned it becomes more stable but with a 5ms jitter still
bbursley
Honestly idk why those spikes were there to begin with or why changing the Twitter server made it stabilize more. I typically see this jitter but can't ever eliminate it which sucks.
bbursley
My ISP or low level tech tried to bs me and tell me that routing was effected by Microsoft and that they had no influence on it (bs) lol.
Zennon
Well, the first one was with the spikes, and then as colonic or whoever mentioned it becomes more stable but with a 5ms jitter still I was referring to the second plot. The first plot has an average of 10ms of jitter The second has larger spikes of 25ms but wider apart so that is less of an average but still will make the frame skip.
