YDRUDFHH Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 I really don't know what a DHCP is, but it changes my IP when nothing is connected to it for thirty minutes and it's quite helpful. I was just wondering if it has the same feature like this (picture link below) http://gyazo.com/c1b0ce434a226cb16803e089217b8ba1 If it does just please explain in thorough detail please.
PharmDawgg Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 DHCP assigns an IP address to devices when the system is started. Dynamic host configuration protocol
YDRUDFHH Posted May 20, 2015 Author Posted May 20, 2015 DHCP assigns an IP address to devices when the system is started. Dynamic host configuration protocol The thing is, if I disconnect all the hosts from the network, like disconnect the wifi from all of them, wait 30 minutes as the lease time says, it changes my IP. http://gyazo.com/79b49677eff47cb13181a87a2e392b83
PharmDawgg Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 Dynamic - will change IP address after lease time is up Static - will not change IP address after lease time is up
YDRUDFHH Posted May 21, 2015 Author Posted May 21, 2015 Dynamic - will change IP address after lease time is up Static - will not change IP address after lease time is up Not really good with this tech stuff, so will I still have a dynamic IP when I get the netduma?
Akic Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 Not really good with this tech stuff, so will I still have a dynamic IP when I get the netduma? Yes. You can choose whether a device has a static or dynamic IP
Administrators Netduma Iain Posted May 22, 2015 Administrators Posted May 22, 2015 Sorry for late reply had meetings all day. Apoona yes you will but most computers/devices default to dynamic. So it should work out the box
