I got some questions

First of all why do the dev recommend 70/70 for congestion control. I have noticed that using 70/70 setting I still get ping spikes when connection is under load. When I put it to 50/50 or below it performs way better and the ping does not spike as much or at all ( when I set it to 10/10 I get no crazy ping spikes for connection being under load) I know not all connections are the same and that the recommended settings will work with your Internet. My question is, will this be fixed with Duma OS?! Because I know some people want to keep most of their speed due to other people in the house hold complaining about slow speeds.

My other question is, does hyper traffic increase your ping? Because I saw in a video that battlenonsense said that hyper traffic added about 10 millisecond to his ping.

This last thing is not a question but I wish there was a easy way to not mess as much with the Duma and have optimal performance.

70/70 is just a basic guide as everyone's internet connection is different. I use 86/86. Theres a new OS coming out in march which will totally change the look and performance of the netduma.

70/70 is a general recommendation that we give because we have found that is the best % to eliminate local congestion whilst still preserving a lot of speed. This of course is only a recommendation and do encourage people to find what works best for them. You shouldn't experience spikes under load with 70/70 though. Are ALL devices connected to the R1?

The new QoS in DumaOS will enable full speeds whilst still allowing for the power of our QoS as you can see in our blog here: https://netduma.com/blog/announcement-unveiling-the-worlds-greatest-qos/

In regards to hyper traffic it would not increase your ping if used correctly. It is only meant for low latency traffic like gaming. If you are downloading through a device that is enabled in hyper traffic then this could cause an increase in ping.

All the devices are connected to the netduma. The only thing I have wired is my ps4. The rest of the devices are connected via the netduma wifi. Nobody games besides me at my house, but the rest of the family like watching Netflix and a lot of youtube. I have tested 70/70 but I get higher ping spike while the connection is underload. 50/50 seems to work better while I game. I stream from the ps4 because I do not have a capture card, does that affect my ping with hyper traffic. It also seems that reactive does not work as well with my speeds when I game. I have 90 down 25 up with Spectrum. Pre-emptive works better for me.

Yes I would disable hyper traffic if you're streaming through the console as it's only for low latency traffic so the way you're using it be have an adverse affect. Try it disabled then could maybe try 70/70 but it sounds like you've got what works for you so no pressing need to do that.

I have another question. Why does on sister pc when I do the Buffer bloat test I can never get a A no matter the settings. But on ps4 I can. makes no sense. Also when I do a ping test on pingtest.net my jitter is always low I consistently get 2 to 3 jitter.

that is more than likely because your sisters pc is running wirelessly. Wifi is not a method that should be used for running diagnostics such as pingplotter etc.

As well as this bufferbloat only happens when your connection is saturated so I wouldn't consider the results of that test to be everything. At 70/70 or whatever you set your sliders to your connection won't be saturated therefore no bufferbloat.

Trust me I ran my sister laptop wired. I would do the test and one after the other in each. And my ps4 pro seemed to get better results than my sisters pc. My sis laptop would never get an A but the ps4 would in most of the occasions.

I also find it weird that on pingtest.net the laptop would get the minimal jitter on a lot of the servers. But for dsl reports nothing was ever consistent.

DSLreports lowers the amount of "streams" during a test for lower end hardware and browsers such as on a PS4. So you'll get better results on there because usually it can't max out your connection speed.
