bbursley
That's because your taking up all the bandwidth for downloading. You should never download and play at the same time, you could move the flower for other devices when downloading but even when install stuff on my xbox one I can still play YouTube etc flawlessly. It'll just pull more bandwidth from the download there by making it take longer. Also it seems as though downloading and playing cod at the same time will jump your ping up. I only put ports in the hyperlane specifically related to the games I'm playing (call of duty) those are usually 3075,3076 sometimes 3074? Idk I think updates and stuff come through that port but don't hold me to that lol.
bbursley
Actually correction. I beleive party chat and player hosts are actually port 3074. I would actually guess that it's a different port maybe 80? Not 100% sure because I think 80 is a browser based port and it would make sense to download updates via that. Either way I'd only add ports 3074-3076 udp if your playing cod. Or just watch to see what upnp opens up for ports for the games your using. I figure that way only the game specific traffic is prioritized. Because nothing else is really as important.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted January 11, 2017 Administrators Share Posted January 11, 2017 What are you trying to do when everything lags? You should have 70/70 anti-flood on at this time to prevent that from occurring. I would lean towards the fact you have your console enabled in hyper traffic that is causing the issue (it is only meant for low latency traffic not downloading) so disable this and see if the issue is resolved. loopylinney
thank you bbursley, Fraser, when i download i just wanna play games as the duma states that downloading doesnt affect your internet, i try and play game and/or watch youtube and it just buffers. bbursley
You must realize that even if you allocated all the bandwidth to your Xbox one. Unless you have some super crazy high speeds your gonna end up lagging. Let's say me for example, I have 15 download and 1 upload. Even if my ports for call of duty games are in the hyper lane and I have enough upload, that download in the background on my console is gonna most likely suck up all the download speed and make latency a real issue. Regardless of my packets for cod being first in and first out if you don't have a ton of extra bandwidth to play around with most likely your gonna lag to some degree. I mean theoretically it wouldn't be as bad as without having the netduma but again unless you have some major bandwidth to spare your never gonna not lag and download at the same time. I personally know that when I do an update or download my xbox will take as much bandwidth as it can unless something calls for bandwidth somewhere else. For example a different device like my phone wanting to stream YouTube. Then it will pull whatever bandwidth the flower allows it to have to it and when it is done it gives it back. The congestion control will not ever fix lag while playing a game or watching YouTube at the same time as the xbox does not have any settings to share the bandwidth to the different areas within itself. Not that I've ever seen anyways.
unixadmin
Btw on PS4 if you start any game while downloading another from the store the system it self will throttle your download. Close to full speed is available if not playing any game or any application is opened. Full speed is allowed only in rest mode.
Netduma Staff Netduma Jack Posted January 12, 2017 Netduma Staff Share Posted January 12, 2017 yes i am So just to clarify, are you trying to play a game and downloading on that same console, or are you downloading on a separate device? As was stated above, the device prioritisation only handles devices rather than the tasks being handled by those devices. Did you disable hyper traffic? Netduma Staff Netduma Jack Posted January 12, 2017 Netduma Staff Share Posted January 12, 2017 i am trying to play and download in the same device You didn't answer my last question which is vital to the problem; have you got hyper traffic enabled on that device? If so, it needs to be disabled, which might well fix the problem.
