Chf Wiggum
I recently connected my Netduma to Comcast business/router but my Comcast business router on bridgemode and connected my home network to the Netduma. My speeds on the Comcast business are about 58-60 down and 10-12 up through Ethernet and It goes to about 35-40dwn on wireless. When I have it bridged to my Netduma the down goes DOWN, a lot. and the antenna strength on the ND is pretty weak on the other side of the house. Does anyone have the solution to this? Can I keep the Comcast business router network and have the Netduma network just for my XBOX? Why does the Netduma speeds go down so much? I think when I had everything connected to the Netduma network my wifes laptop was at like 10mbps down. Does the congestion control effect other things when you are not playing on your XBOX? Looking for the best setup/. Thanks
ColonicBoom
If the congestion control is at 100/100 then it won't affect speeds (it's 'Off' basically). But if you have the sliders set lower than 100/100 it will affect everything, it's creating a buffer to stop other devices from causing local congestion (lag spikes and the like) while you are gaming. Can you setup like this..? Modem > Netduma > Secondary router (as Access Point), this is how I have mine set up. Regarding full speeds, you should have settings as follows: Reactive Algorithm 100% anti-flood Share excess enabled Reset device prioritisation & apply Disable IPv6 in WAN, LAN & misc Disable deep packet in misc Enable turbo mode / super turbo (depending on your expected speeds) Ensure the ethernet cables you're using connecting the R1 to hub & R1 to PC are Cat5e+/can handle your speeds. Do a wired speed test from a PC
iAmMoDBoX
Sounds like something is setup wrong... On a side note, it's pathetic that even on business class comcast only does 10 up
Chf Wiggum
Thanks for the reply, I did your settings and it helped a lot on the speeds. However the Wi-Fi on this thing is TERRIBLE. I get like 60mbps down on Ethernet now and as soon as I jump off and connect to WiFi it drops to 10 - 17 mbps. wth is that? So for gaming it works good, but for my wife trying to run a business down the hall just dropped like 30-40mbps. It says the signal is strong, any ideas why I am losing SOO much speed on wireless? Thanks again,
ColonicBoom
any ideas why I am losing SOO much speed on wireless? Glad you've got your full speeds wired now. Only suggestions I can think of in the settings would be to maybe try 'wifi workaround' in 'miscellaneous settings' (although I think this is for compatibility rather than anything else). I've never had to use it myself. You could also try a different wifi channel in case you have some interference or neighbours messing your s**t up. Run wireless diagnostics (alt click the wifi icon if you're on a Mac) and you can find out the least congested channel to use. Bear in mind that most people are using hubs from their ISP and a lot have auto-channel so you have to do this every so often because who knows what makes theirs change. A drop from 60mb to 10mb is a big drop though. Are testing this at some distance? And did you have 'anti flood' or 'device prioritisation' set when you tested the speed from her laptop? What speed does her laptop get using the settings I suggested earlier when her laptop is near the Netduma? Max speed I've seen is 60 Meg as this is 802.11n weak n. Avg is 40meg on a good day. Only good thing about wireless in Duma is strong signal of over 1000 feet. Down side of course is speed. If u want speed. Grab a uac pro. About 130 bucks, 1300 wireless speed. This is access point. Which is what you want to add to Duma, not another router. This is the way I have mine set up too. Luckily I had a decent dual-band router spare than has epic range and a simple Access Point mode, so I didn't need to drop any £$£$ on it. I can't comment on the max speeds through wifi because my bandwidth isn't even that high to test it But I used to have a different ISP and by using the AP, like Slipknot says, I could get 150mb+ wifi through it when linked to the Netduma. Chf Wiggum
I think I may have figured it out. I bought a refurbished thinkpad and after messing with all these settings for like 2 hours and getting like 12--13 mbits I thought maybe its the WiFi card. So, I got my wifes laptop out of the office and ran the same speed test hers was coming in at 30-40 even got it up to 50 Woo Hoo! My POS refurbished laptop must have a bad WiFi card. Thanks for the help as Duma network was almost unusable earlier today. I would recommend more detailed video tutorials and what each of settings do and why you should or shouldn't have them set up that way. I don't see how IPv6 enabled does any thing to speed. I don't understand why you input your bandwidth, what does this do? I don't get why there is the down and upload cap, a prioritization, and now a hyper traffic? don't they all kind of do the same thing? I have it 100% on both equal prioritization and have the hyper traffic on which I'm guessing is going to give the Xbox priority anyways correct? I still have a lot of questions regarding this router. Also my deep packet processing? What ever the f*** this is keeps getting checked even though I uncheck it and reboot. Seems to be unchecked for about a half hour but when I go back and check it this morning its rechecked. Same for IPv6 on WAN and LAN. I also disabled cloud settings not sure if this was a good idea. Optimizing this router seems confusing and I can't tell if I am hurting performance or helping. What would be really cool is if on an update if you had a explanation popup on the different components with a ping and speed test to a google server which I know would not be 100% reliable but you could go setting by setting and see if your helping or hurting your performance. I have limited knowledge on routers IP Addresses, NAT, DHCP, Port Forwarding. LAN, WAN. IPv4, IPv6 but outside of this I am confused.

Can you connect an access point via wireless? As I have a gamerlounge router and a couple other but would think this would slow speeds even further. Same for IPv6 on WAN and LAN. I also disabled cloud settings not sure if this was a good idea. You input your bandwidth so that the router knows what your bandwidth is, so it can create a buffer (with the 'anti-flood' sliders). Prioritisation is so that you can reserve bandwidth for devices, so that other devices can't eat into it's allowance. Most people are better off leaving them equal with 'shared' enabled. Hyper Traffic allow data in/out ahead of all other devices. To prioritise your gaming packets. If any settings are clearing/resetting, you probably just need to enable cookies (misc settings), then reboot from misc settings. Whenever you want/need to reboot, do it from misc settings, then your settings will remain unchanged. I would leave cloud enabled and 'bleeding edge' enabled. What speeds do you pay for with your ISP vs. What you get on your WiFi? I don't know what speeds ModBoX pays for but when I paid for 150/12, I got 152/12 and occasionally a speedtest told me 180/12. Can you connect an access point via wireless? As I have a gamerlounge router and a couple other but would think this would slow speeds even further. You can but I wouldn't, I think it halves your speed by default. And they are sometimes a bit of a pain to setup (for me at least). On top of that, if your access point is connected wirelessly to the Netduma, any devices connected over ethernet to the access point will potentially suffer as if they were connecting wirelessly. You would basically be gaming wirelessly, which is far from optimal.
