IW Spawns

I have been Playing HCFFA on IW because I wasn't helping anyone on HCTDM!

But the spawns are rediculous on some of the maps, and there seem to be a few players that have grasped this and are just spawn trapping relentlessly. I got killed at least 10-12 times as I spawned into the game.

 

On the countdown into the game as my counter got to 1, I got killed! As obviously people were put into the game. I have noticed that there are names coming up for kill and I have just finished the countdown.

 

I know the game is new, and these thing generally get sorted out, but in some games I was beginning to think that there were some out of map glitches or exploits as I just could see how I get killed from where I was on the map :)

Core TDM player here. Spawns have been depressing me since launch. Apparently the game likes to treat me like a spawn point after a few enemies die, and they will spawn on me and swarm me lmao.

 

I played a TDM on Throwback yesterday and it was only a 4v6. I counted dying within two seconds of spawning TWELVE times. I was 39-17 and only five of those deaths involved anything resembling an actual gunfight. I remember one where I spawned at the back right corner near the lemon (or lime?), where the small house has the little roof you can stand on. I spawned literally under that while someone was laying down on it. Despite all the confusion I managed to turn on the guy, but I wasn't a happy bunny at all.

 

After my 17th death I left the game.

i've had team mates spawn barrel stuffing range directly in front of me on frontier as i'm about to take a shot in hctdm games.

i played hckc earlier aswell but one match of being spawned several times with enemies behind me in was enough of that.

i really am trying to get on with this and it's probably only stubbornness keeping me at it right now, if it aint the spawns it's the ridiculous host advantage/netcode/broken challenges/bad math

TF2 doesn't have any of this sickening ineptitude !

I don't know what it is about IW, but I specifically remember this being an early nightmare scenario when Ghost dropped.  The pros were all talking about the spawns leading into CoD Champs, which was like the end of March.  There was a big patch that dropped going into CoD Champs that year, and I remember the commentators were STILL talking about bad spawns on Octane (the strip club map) during the Champs event itself.

 

I saw a thread on a YT video where a guy made the case that spawns were "rotating" around the FFA spawn locations BECAUSE of how fast your teammates were dying.  The faster your team was getting slapped, the worse the spawns got because players were dropping in, getting wiped out and the coding didn't "want to" drop the next players in the meat grinder, so it triggered a bad spawn.

 

Now that "discussion" went on for a few days and there were a lot of people of with contrary opinions (in CoD?  What? :blink: ) but there was literally nothing of substance posted either way after the initial idea was floated. 

 

I mention it merely as I found the idea had merit in my limited understanding of how they choose a spawn location.

 

One thing I can wholeheartedly recommend is playing some FFA on popular maps against BOTS.  Change difficulty based on how you are trying to play, but make the health setting low to force a lot of random spawns, put the UAV on for all players all the time, and run some games while paying attention to the spawn locations.  I always do this for maps like PUKETOWN, because I KNOW they are going to come up as often as possible in a voting rotation.

 

I know other slayers like A7 do the same thing, so it's not without merit. :)

I mostly play Dom and the spawns are completely terrible. 

 

Example: We had a team clear out an enemy C flag area (no enemies at all in the area after clearing them) and we then start capturing the C flag.  I run around the corner to get some points for the C capture and watch an enemy spawn directly behind my teammates.  He was directly in front of me and instantly got shot.

 

Because of the terrible spawns, there are times that a true death will lead to an additional 1-3 more deaths instantly (1-5 seconds) after spawning.  IW should now start a stat s/d (spawn / death) ratio.  I would suspect that my s/d is about 2+

Some things never change. I'm sitting this COD out in favor of bf1. I can honestly say the spends in bf1 are actually remarkably worse.

 

I'm not even talking about spawning on your squad which can put you at immediate fire. Random spawned, had an enemy span about ten feet from me and had 3 more spawn on him for the easiest quad feed ever. I actually had that happen three times in one game
