KayOneX-24
Hi everybody. I've been playing a lot of IW on my PC today. During the gameplay I had set my geofilter off, because it took too long to get into a game. When I've been looking on the geofilter after a match I could see that there were exactly 11 dots on the map blinking. With this in my mind, I've played some games, each in a different lobby, to confirm my findings. What I've seen is, that IW seems to run a lot less on dedicated servers than previous titles (at least on PC). Most of the time I was connected to other players directly, that's why I've seen them blinking on my geofilter map. I've seen most player's hosts in Germany, but also some in Italy and a single one in Spain. Then I've tested the following: I've turned the geofilter on set the geofilter radius just around Germany,Czech and the Netherlands with strict mode ticked. Guess what? The matchmaking couldn't get me into a game, because some hosts where excluded which was also shown on the geofilter map as a blocked host. Could IW be using some kind of hybrid networking system in a mix of dedicated servers and the matchmaking system of Destiny ? I would be very happy if someone from the Netduma crew could take a look at this. Best regards, KayOneX-24.
ColonicBoom
Sounds like the match-making on console too. Looks like it picks a player host to host the lobby and then drops it on a dedi just before the match
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted November 22, 2016 Administrators Share Posted November 22, 2016 They always have used a hybrid for the most part. This one as Colonic says above they choose a player host first and then a dedicated server. You shouldn't be getting kicked if you have a dedicated server within your radius. Can you include a screenshot of your Geo-filter when in a game please?
KayOneX-24
Sounds like the match-making on console too. Looks like it picks a player host to host the lobby and then drops it on a dedi just before the match Hi ColonicBoom. Yup. I can confirm that. I've tested it all day long and it truly picks a player to host the lobby and then puts them on the dedicated server. They always have used a hybrid for the most part. This one as Colonic says above they choose a player host first and then a dedicated server. You shouldn't be getting kicked if you have a dedicated server within your radius. Can you include a screenshot of your Geo-filter when in a game please? Hi Fraser, the game would run good - at least latency-wise - because I've got a very low ping to the server with 28ms at maximum. It's definitely the game. Also, I've noticed the amount of cheaters/hackers rising in the last few days. I hope Activision/Infinity Ward is going to activate the anti-cheat feature or at least VAC on PC. Until then I'm going to play some private matches in IW against bots and BF1 on XBONE. Issue solved. This thread can be closed. Thanks.
infernomachine
Fraser if i'm reading your post correctly thats not necessarily true. You can have dedis in your geo but it will pick a host and potentially place you outside of your filter into a dedi. Im on the east coast and have the entire eastern seaboard covered. Ive been booted because host is in my filter but then the dedi is in washington state

PharmDawgg
http://imgur.com/a/Tb6Lm That dedi may be mislocated. I would have Fraser or Jack take a look at it. A 32ms ping at 2300miles seems kind of unusual. I usually ping that server at about 80ms.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted November 28, 2016 Administrators Share Posted November 28, 2016 As Buck says above that's mis located. It's in Georgia, if you put it in the incorrect location thread I can move it.
