BlitzOmenz
I've never posted on forums before. Sorry if I'm doing something wrong. I have cable internet from Cableone and the speed is supposed to be 100 download and 3 upload but I only really get 30 down and 3 up most of the time. I have two netdumas and one is plugged into my cable modem with 3 computers plugged in and a Xbox one and lots of wireless stuff. I need more connections for my external drive and figured I'd just buy a second router and plug it into the first and then plug my Xbox one into the second router along with my external drive but they aren't working together. I looked up info on how to do it by turning off dhcp (I think it was called) and changing the last three digits on IP address on the second router but it will only let me change the 88. I know there are better ways to connect more stuff but I want to throttle my Xbox without throttling everything else like unticking share excess would do. Some people say it helps in Cod. So I though I'd at least try it. I feel like some games are two one sided. Some people are reacting way to fast, faster than I think is possible. While other games everything seems fair and I can accept why I died. I know what I did wrong, you know? Any help is appreciated. Thanks. Also if this doesn't work then no harm done. I already told my friend that he could have the second one for his setup. I told him it was good but he has a tight budget.
II N3MES1S II
I think you need something like this https://www.amazon.com/TRENDnet-Unmanaged-GREENnet-Ethernet-TE100-S5/dp/B000M2TAN4 Instead of another router or netduma
ColonicBoom
You're not doing anything wrong by posting, that's what this place is for, welcome to the forum. But wow, that's an expensive way to find out if it works. And you could have just bought a switch, for peanuts per extra port. That said, I would suggest practice and lots of it. Your reactions will get faster quickly and you won't die as much. I've no other suggestions though because you're trying to manipulate your connection to cheat, which is very naughty indeed. I know... You're not trying to cheat, you're trying to make it 'Fair' because you shouldn't be dying, because you had a 3+kd in all the other CoDs... bagsta69
As has been said, a switcher of some sort would be the route id take, and indeed have taken. My R1 is by the phone input into the house which has a powerline adaptor plugged in which feeds the TV SKY etc downstairs. Then I have another 2 ethernet feeds that go up through the floor into mission control. 1 goes directly into my PS4 and the other goes into a switch box thingy which in turn feeds 2 pc's and another tv. The switch boxes cost nowhere near as much as another router, like £20.00 ish. And at the risk of starting yet another flame war I will say that I have tried throttling in many ways over many years of online gaming and it does not help at all. Sure you may go ham on one game but I have tested this out over hours of gaming throttled and not over 9 years and it makes jack shit of difference. AAAAAAAAAND waits for the abuse. lol (P.S. people a lot smarter than me agree with me)
BlitzOmenz
Actually I'm playing the same game and my global k/d used to be .7 but I found out my problem was delay through the Bose lifestyle and to the TV. I switched to a monitor a while back and now my average k/d is near 2. People weren't reacting anywhere near as fast as they were on the TV combo. Some games I get higher. My new global k/d is 1.21 and still growing and hasn't turned back. My reactions are fine but some games it feels like people are reacting to fast to be real. I know I can't trust what I see on the kill Cam. I know when I screw up. I don't want to lag and jump around and cheat. I just want to see if what people are saying is true about lag compensation because I don't think people with a latency higher than 400 according to the game should not be doing as good as they are.i don't want to raise my latency. I just want to lower my bandwidth because the game doesn't need that much anyway and I'm thinking it might make it more consistent. These people that are hard to kill in the game go way positive and there global k/d isn't over .8 doesn't make sense. Maybe luck, maybe I'm not the only one having trouble with those people. I just want it to be consistent and fair.
BlitzOmenz
Thanks bagsta69 I guess nothing can be done about it. I have a switch I could use for the external drive that I'm not using right now. lol
BlitzOmenz
I'm almost 30 years old and my friend is almost 50. We just enjoy some Cod after work were aren't faze kids or something.
ColonicBoom
Played a lad the other day and he didn't seem to miss a single bullet. He could jump out and take out four of my team, in different directions, with no wasted bullets - total accuracy at ridiculous sensitivity. Looked like mouse + keyboard or a bot. I watched the killcam replays and have never seen anything like it. I just can't believe that a person could be that accurate - I still want to punch him now and it was days ago. (so I do appreciate how you feel with this)
BlitzOmenz
Yep colonicboom, some people don't make any sense how they can react so fast and be accurate. I been looking up lots of stuff on ways people could be cheating (see through walls maybe. So they pre-emptively know where to aim) and how I could spot it and prove it. It just doesn't feel right. I don't like cheaters. I'm thinking, I have ghost and there is no hatr and I'm to far away for 6 sense (I used to use 6 sense all the time so I know) and I know I never shot while there at that time and there was no way he saw me but by the next game he's gone so I just say forget it, just got to enjoy the game and not worry about it. bagsta69
A lot of what you see when people seem to know where you are is simple map knowledge. There certain areas on every map that are favoured by players and as such enemies will pre fire around the corner giving you a WTF moment. Ive also seen people playing on mental sensitvity settings and doing well. Im 47 and in no way could I play at high sensitivity. Couple that with everything else and you are going to see a few problems. It is what it is and you can set up private matches which are great fun or play MP and deal with crap that is MP. Throttling in my opinion is not the way to go, minimising your ping and getting a jitter free connection is much better.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted November 18, 2016 Administrators Share Posted November 18, 2016 Firstly follow this for your speeds: Reactive Algorithm 100% anti-flood Share excess enabled Reset device prioritisation & apply Disable IPv6 in WAN, LAN & misc Disable deep packet in misc Enable turbo mode (if you can't get full speeds without it) Ensure the ethernet cables you're using connecting the R1 to hub & R1 to PC are Cat5e+/can handle your speeds. Do a wired speed test from a PC In terms of connecting 2 R1's together it's definitely possible as we do it in the office and it shouldn't require many settings changes. You should have an ethernet cable going from the second R1 port 1 to the first R1 port 2. Then just change the LAN address of the second duma to anything you want so you can access it. Then just to be safe reboot it from settings > miscellaneous and you should have internet. Keep in mind you won't be able to see the individual devices that are connected to the second R1 on the 1st. You'll only see the R1. So what ever you do on the first R1 will affect the second R1 and all it's devices as a whole. You can of course then change specific settings on the second R1 for any devices connected to it.

I just don't believe anyone can be that good, I've watched plenty of competitive pro vids and this was something else. It was just after the match in question that I discovered the lack of theatre mode, he was so good (or so cheating) that I was actually going to bother watching from his perspective and record it to upload. Which is something that I've never been inclined to do before. You're right though, a lot of people seem to be able to handle ridiculous sensitivity on Infinite Warfare. BlitzOmenz
Yeah bagsta69, my ping is around 40 to 50. Which I think is okay. As for jitter, I'm not sure how to check that. It's something I've been meaning to look up. I just recently found out about buffer bloat and pulled those congestion control bars back to help but for some reason my upload buffer bloat on dslreports keeps spiking up to 300+ and then back down to 10 to 30 while the test is running on upload side. BlitzOmenz
Thanks Fraser, I still might set it up like I wanted to just because I'm curious what I was doing wrong. I like learning new things. I may try a match or two and see what happens. My friend can let me know if I'm lagging so I can adjust it to where I'm not lagging because that would be cheap. I hate it when I'm using the pump action shotgun and some guy is jumping all over the place and I wouldn't want that to be me doing it to someone else. I'll try again tonight after work. Also are you saying to check all those settings on the first router (the one hooked up to the modem)? I also replaced all my cables with cat 7 and even the coaxial cable going into the modem is double or triple shielded ( I can't remember). I have lots of wires running near each other and didn't want to take the chance of getting electromagnetic interference because lots of them are AC power cables. lol
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted November 19, 2016 Administrators Share Posted November 19, 2016 Yeah make sure all those settings are definitely done on the first router
