Access Point & Congestion Control

This is probably a simple answer, but I am unsure of it so...

I have an Access Point (Asus RT86-P) running through the Duma. Then I have my xbox one physically attached to the Access Point.

My question is this: when I am setting up congestion control do I need to up the percentage for the Access Point the same as the Xbox One in order to achieve proper bandwidth allocation?

In other words, if I set my xbox at say 10% but only have the Access Point at 5% will only 5% "get" to the xbox or will I have the 10%?

Hopefully that makes sense.

Thanks for your help!

if you give your access point 10% of your total bandwidth and give xbox 10% then your xbox will get 10% of the 10% you gave your access point........i will be corrected if I am wrong, but i am certain that is the case!

If you give your AP only 5%, your console will only get 5% no matter how much you give your console in the C.C.

If this is truly the case then I will most likely run an ethernet cable directly from the switch to the xbox and skip the AP altogether.

I guess this is somewhat mitigated if "share excess" is enabled. I've always had very high bandwidth (up/down) when I check internet connections on the xbox itself.

why are you running from the access point?  why not just run from the duma in another port?

It's a matter of location and not wanting wires all over the place. We are slowly renovating the house so when my office / playroom is finished I will have the wires concealed. Until then Access point...

Would go with what has been said above. If you leave it all equal with share excess it should grab more bandwidth if needed :)
