Drock678
First, let me say I am liking this game when it functions well. The pace reminds me of AW with way better hit detection. I tend to adjust my gamestyle based on the game so in this one I am an all out rusher due to remaining stationary often results in getting shot in the back... a lot. After a recent gameplay, where I rushed my ass off for 26-1 TDM (would have been a nuke had the erad had the option), I have discovered some connectivity things I would like to share. It seems that IW still uses the "find a host then connect to a dedicated server method." I am located in FL. Previously, in Week 1 and 2 of the beta I could not get a game until I disabled the geo-filter. I would then be on a 45 ms P2P connection hosted by someone in New Jersey. Surprisingly the game did not play too bad for me but it took superhuman reflexes to do well (AW heart palpitation sweat reflexes) Now, 10/22/2016 I connected to the Miami, FL dedicated server with no problem. Today, I did the same thing and it kept booting me out of the lobby. I ran a trace route and discovered that currently it flows from Oklahoma to the UK then to the dedi. I set my ping assist to 30ms, as I have learned to include Oklahoma in my geo-filter from BO3, then bam back in the action on a smooth 19-21 ms dedi. I have optimized my connection for bufferbloat and even with my wife watching netflix, after a bandwidth allocation fix, 40-30 bombs every game. I did notice that if the host that IW connected to had an outrageous ping to me, say 80ms to 100ms before taking me to the dedi, I was getting insta-melted, QS, look at a guy and die, shot around corners, and etcetera. I also noticed that the majority of hosts that the game tried to select were in FL so maybe that is part of the changes they are implementing. I have been playing COD since about BO1, in my experience I have come to expect the game to go from pretty bad; to playable; then perfect right before the next game comes out. As long as Infinity Ward is fast to act in addressing issues and quickly makes changes while acknowledging community feedback, I do not think I will be too discouraged with this games direction. The thing that really makes me frustrated is when they act like they don't give a damn. I do not know if this information will be of help to anyone but I hope it can help you diagnose your issues if you are having any. Also, NetDuma Team you guys are doing an awesome job. Thanks for giving me the best tool to enjoy gaming no matter the situation.
iAmMoDBoX
I find this to be pretty accurate to my experience as well. Except I don't use the geo filter to restrict, more like an informational tool. If I see the server ping going up and down like a roller coaster and it isn't my connection then it's time to leave that game.... I wonder why they did the player hosted lobby and dedicated server game. It's kinda weird to be honest.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted October 24, 2016 Administrators Share Posted October 24, 2016 Do keep in mind that it's a beta and so its all subject to change but on first look at the beta it does appear to work with the Geo. Thanks for the kind words!
Drock678
I guess the structure of the model creates innovation by having three different companies experiment with "variant" game engines, matchmaking, etc. Unfortunately, this makes being able to count on subsequent games functioning the same as their predecessors in regards to pace and connection very slim. Only recently have I been able to actually play in FL, as the servers typically ping between 17-20ms. Before they were inundated with folks from the islands and South America which forced me to play on the Georgia dedi to avoid opponents lag skipping across the screen with fluctuating ping bars (BO3). To this point the beta matchmaking, as viewed through the Duma map, reminds me of BO1's local only function (wish I had a Duma then to confirm) where the majority of game hosts are being assessed from within the state. At this point I seem to like to figure out how to "fix" my connection than actually play. I have been having an improved experience from beta week 1 to week 2 so hopefully the trend continues. Victor-Yout
in bo3 and iw the german and dutch dedi servers always trace to the dedi in new york, i thought that the traceroute could just be inaccurate like often said here in the forum, but it wonders me that you say the same oklahoma to UK. Maybe that's half of the reason BO3 plays like crap for Europeans lol. 6ms to my local server (UK) doesn't feel like it. Honestly Netherlands/France/Germany servers play better for me. RL317
Although any server plays infinitely better when it isn't full of middle east plays forced to connect to us 4000 miles away lol. I won't be buying Treyarch's next CoD because they refused to fix that.
