Moderate NAT - xb1 - TT HG633 super router

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I have just changed ISP from bt to talk talk. Previously I had my Netduma connected to a unlocked BT echolife HG612 modem. In my netduma settings, under PPPOE i would enter my username and password and every thing was hunky dory, open nat no problem!

But i have now gone over to talk talk and they sent me a Huawei HG633 super router and i have problems with my nat being on moderate. First of all i thought that i wouldnt even need to connect the new HG633 super router and could continue using my unlocked BT echolife HG612 as long as i obtained my username and password from talk talk and entered this info in the PPPOE settings on my netduma but this didnt work.

I then i thought i would start from scratch, i disconnected the BT echolife HG612 modem and installed the new talk talk HG633 super router, then connected my netduma. Everything worked but i now have a moderate nat on my xb1. I have followed the guide and enabled DMZ on the talk talk HG633 router, enabled/disabled Upnp, disabled geo filter and restarted my xb1 a bunch of times but still no joy.

Surely i missing something simple, can anyone help?

Is there a way to use my existing unlocked BT echolife HG612 modem + netduma along my my new provider talk talk? Or will i have to use the Huawei HG633 router talk talk provided?

Thanks

I'd wait for Zennon to assist as he's with talk talk and knows more than most when it comes to this he shouldn't be long

I'm also pretty sure you can use the hg612 modem with the netduma too and I believe it's easier with talk talk than all the other isps

Talk Talk do not use PPPoE or a user name or password if you want to use the HG612 modem reset it and do not set it up and it will auto connect with no user interaction.

Hey, if you can get the HG612 working as above, you should be good to go.

If not, on the super router, ensure the R1 WAN IP is in the DMZ or if possible enable modem mode on the super router. Disable any UPnP/port forwarding on the super router.

Does the console have an open NAT if you look in the console network settings or does it just say moderate on the game?

If it's just the game then you'll need to manually port forward on the duma according to https://support.activision.com/articles/en_US/FAQ/Ports-Used-for-Call-of-Duty-Gamesand ensure UPnP is disabled, only use one or the other not both.
