Zennon
Ping assist is to asssit in finding games "outside" your geo filter that meet your set max ping not inside the filter. What is your base ping ?

Hi there - Also a Seattle area guy, so I may be able to assist. Is the question on the games' ping? Or is the question on your friend not being able to join you in lobby? Game Ping: If you ping is 30ms, that is the round trip from you to the closest server AND BACK. If the host is FURTHER AWAY than that host, your ping will increase because of distance - does that make sense? Friend connect: Have you white listed them on your Allow/Deny? Have you tried connecting to them WITHOUT the Duma in line to prove your theory? Happy to help, just need to clarify. JD

Or is "30" what you set the Ping Assist slider to when looking for a game? If 30 is what you set your Ping Assist bar to, then we need to test your Base Ping to see if you can even GET to a 30ms game based on YOUR connection. Personally my base ping is about 23-25ms, depending on the day and time. If set my Ping Assist to 30, which tells the router I will accept a game anywhere in the world that is 30ms or LESS, I will rarely IF EVER get into a lobby that isn't me hosting P2P. As BO3 is running a match making algorithm for their dedicated servers, this will take FOREVER to populate a lobby. But when it does, I would have that "low of" ping connection for THAT game to play (roughly). Next lobby would need to start the process all over again unless all other 11 members stayed in lobby. Does that make sense?

Dillinger
Okay, when you did Pingtest, did you have your sliders set to 100/100? That would be wide open and that result would be your "base ping". If you had sliders at anywhere other than 100/100, I believe you did as your numbers are pretty good, re-run the same test with them at 100/100 and note that number. Let's assume 15ms is your base. That is pretty good TBH, I suspect you are close to an urban sector with more IT housed equipment. When you set Ping Assist to 30ms (which is in line with what we recommend) are you seeing games that are 50ms plus INSIDE or OUTSIDE of the Geo Filter? Psychopathic6699
Same results with it slid to 100% ping is 15. i keep it set to 30 ping and the games i get are always inside my geo filter range. but ALWAYS result in 50+ ping they range from 50-80 ping. This is a misunderstanding of how the Geo Filter works. The router is working as intended. INSIDE your geo filter - ANY host is available to you. UNLESS you use the Allow/Disallow rating. OUTSIDE of the Geo Filter is when the Ping Assist comes into play. For your issue: Load CoD Ultimate profile. This will put your home in the middle of the ocean and rely on Ping Assist only to find you lobbies. This will take a bit longer to find a match, but if there are lower ping lobbies available to you, this profile will put you in those games over the higher rated ones you are trying to avoid. Bear in mind - This will take longer to populate the lobbies and you may end up in P2P games more than the rest of the community who is using the default dedicated server match making. In short, you don't have a NetDuma problem, we just need to get you some tools to use it more in line with what you expectations are. The router is working exactly as intended in this case. imts_maul
Like stated before, the ping assist, which you have set at 30ms is only for servers outside your geo-filter..Meaning if the game chooses a host outside the filter it has to be 30ms or less.. if it chooses a host inside your geo-filter it can be anything, meaning it could be a 20ms host or it could be a 200ms host..it's inside your filter.. iAmMoDBoX
So how do i fit it from getting on the high ping set in my geo area? Set your location in the ocean, put your geofilter as small as it can go, turn on strict mode, put ping assist at 30ms and see if you find a game. If you had sliders at anywhere other than 100/100, I believe you did as your numbers are pretty good, re-run the same test with them at 100/100 and note that number. A common misconception JD. Your ping stays the same no matter what width the band it is passing through. Cheaters who think that manipulating speeds to beat the so called lag comp think this is true, it does nothing. Luckily ping is compensated for which is how fast your packets travel not the width of the band. To the OP the ping of the game can be anything inside your geo the assist is for outside the geo re my post. If you want only lower ping games make your geo small place it in the ocean and then set your ping assist to 30ms , you might find it takes a long time to find a match. The in-game ping adds just under 20ms to the real ping for the games own in-game sync.
Netduma Staff Netduma Jack Posted June 22, 2016 Netduma Staff Share Posted June 22, 2016 I would reiterate what has already been said; ping assist connects you to hosts outside the radius. I would put on the COD Ultimate profile, which should give you a better experience. Try then putting your ping assist down to 40ms, and see if you connect to better games.
