Why should I not just sell my Duma?

Recommended Posts

I eventually narrowed the problem down to its proximity to my cordless phone.

I literally moved the R1 a foot further away and around a corner and have not had a wifi issue since.

This is so true, all kinds of home devices cause horrible interference with wifi.

I've purchased a Virgin Media 100Mbps connection specifically for gaming.  Everyone else in the house uses the Sky connection for connectivity.  So I've no longer got any congestion issues.

The wireless on the Duma has been a joke for me with no success troubleshooting.  Laptop constantly disconnecting.  Now the laptop is back on the Sky Router we see no issues with disconnections.  We've even recently received the new Sky Q Router and there are no issues with disconnections, so I can definitely isolate the issue to the Duma.  There is definitely a problem with the Wireless on the Duma.

I mainly play Black Ops 3 and have noticed zero benefit from many, many hours of play, whilst using the Host Filtering.  It makes no difference if it is on or off.  In both situations Black Ops 3 connects me to the Irish Dedi.  Therefore, what is the point?

I'm open to suggestions but at this point I am seriously looking at selling the Duma on Ebay as it doesn't seem to have any benefit over my Sky Router or Virgin Router.  Both show A grade connections without the Duma.

I don't know about the wi fi at all.   But before you make a hasty decision based on your Virgin line, i'd hold off and make sure the line works for you.  I am in the U.S. so have never used the line personally but there have been many people here who have had gaming problems and the issue came directly from ISP.  Once they got rid of Virgin, the problem cleared up.   You could even potentially save the money and get rid of a dedicated gaming line.  The Congestion Control will help you play without dealing with your families internet usage.  Gaming really doesn't take that much bandwidth, but i assume you know this.

Hopefully some of the other suggestions on the wifi will help you and if you decide to get rid of it and keep the Virgin Line, good luck with it.

The wifi issue will most likely be a channel clash with another network or interference from some other device like a cordless phone

I have struggled with wifi issues on the R1.  90% of my issues were related to the channel.  I believe that my neighbors have auto switching wifi channels and often switch which causes overlap my channel.  I use wifi analyzer and see the overlap and then change my channel.  I then won't have problems for a while.  The other issue is network congestion when I have LOTS of devices on my network at once.  This usually happens when I host parties or friends at the house.

Because of the issues, I bought a dual band access point and disabled the R1 wifi.  Since doing so, I have not experienced a wifi issues yet in the past several weeks.  FINGERS CROSSED!!

In another topic, Fraser stated that the they will look at implementing auto wifi channel switching in the next software version.

Anyways, lets keep this civil please.

The wifi suggestion was given based on bagstas solution above. If you can answer Crossys post with the things you've tried that will help a lot. You didn't make an original thread regarding your wifi issue, when you jump in on someone elses support thread it is harder to give direct support.

If after Crossys suggestions you have the same issue you are welcome to request a 1 on 1 in the section at the bottom of the forum.

In regards to Irish dedi, it may be that another cloud needs to be done or is as Zennon has described. Will be testing games a lot now so will check BO3 as well.
