Acebri
I've got cable internet and never had this huge drop in speeds (whatever you do don't change to cable by the way cos the game suffers badly on Virgin for me). I don't have any experience with BT internet or any 'phone line internet' actually so I don't really know if they are prone to this at all. Do you mean that when the Xbox / Netduma shows high speeds the laptop is showing low speeds, within the same period? Or when the speed drops on one it drops for all? (Obviously don't test them both at exactly the same time, turn off the Xbox completely when you want to test the laptop - if Xbox is in hyperlane it will hold up some of the speed). If your ping is good then I wouldn't restart, tempting as it no doubt is. Do your speeds shoot back up again if you don't do anything, like the following day? Or do they stay low permanently unless you reboot? (I'd test this out and see if it changes back on it's own). Also, swap the cables over and test them both again. You know you can get high speeds through the Xbox so that cable is good. See if the Xbox still gets those same speeds on the laptop's cable and vice versa. And is the laptop up to date? drivers and whatnot. If your Xbox is getting the high speeds then you know it's getting through the Netduma. my speeds will not change unless I reset the bthh, youtube will buffer every 5 secs twitch unwatchablefor days then as soon as I turn my home hub off and on its fixed . its all done through the same Ethernet cable I pull it out the back of the xbox one plug it in the laptop . im not having major issues playing black ops 3 just recently I have been getting 3-4 rubberbandings a match and the die before you can pull your gun up nonsense which I presume might be down to someone having a lot lower ping than me . but other than that I am really enjoying the game and the netduma but just cant seem to get what the netduma was doing 2-3 months ago which was melting people instantly . ColonicBoom
That's not ideal (swapping the cable from one to the other), that could be causing some issues - I know that I've had to reboot everything (and leave it all off for a bit) when doing that sort of thing. Can you get another network cable or is there some other reason you have it like this, like you've cabled (a single cable) to a specific room from the Netduma? Acebri
ohh I didn't kno that , its just easier as I can only connect the hub and netduma in another room so I use one big Ethernet cable to reach into my gaming pad (room) better than being wireless. I rarely use my laptop though and when I do its for either checking speeds or doing dsl reports for better connections this is when I swap my cable back and fourth
Zennon
i keep getting this problem every 2-3 weeks .i have recently had a new bthh5 sent out to see if this fixes the problem but it is still happening the only way i can seem to fix it is to turn off my bthh5 a few times then its fine but i have been told not to keep doing this as it messes up my line I am wondering if your SNRM is dropping on a night due to noise on the line and this is whats causing the rubber banding can you show us your HH5 stats both daytime and nighttime stats please as SNRM can and will drop on a night with a noise issue. RobReapz
As the bbc plot is fine we can deduce that Google is still playing up badly. The plot is ok, you do have interleaving on the line though, see my above post. Hey Zennon how can you tell there is interleaving? I'm assuming its the high ping spikes on the hops between your router and the ISP right?
Zennon
The base ping is higher than expected showing sign's that is probably interleaved, as each depth of interleaving adds 8ms of latency. The 8ms depths stack.

Zennon
High spikes is jitter, an unstable ping caused by ISP congestion or local congestion.

Acebri
its been about 2 months since i last checked my dsl reports been checking it the last 2 days to try find my sweet spot again since my black ops 3 game play has been poor rubberbanding etc and i now have access to a computer . when i run my dsl test i am getting idle latency to london , ireland ,germany and zurich at 250+ sometimes it will drop to around 130 is this something to worry about
Zennon
Use ping plotter after you run the dsl reports test and see if the results correlate.

Do what Zen said, if you find a server is giving unusual results through pingplotter then try another. If they all seem to be giving high pings then we know it's not the servers.
