HG612 and Netduma no DMZ Required Method

I had problems with Congestion Control using PPPoE, and also while using the Netduma behind a router with DMZ it give me throughput issues, but Congestion Control worked, so i needed to find an alternative.

I have a Plusnet connection so anyone with the same connection method this will work for if you have a STATIC ip assigned to you.

I am not sure how to make it work if you have a dynamic ip.

Log onto your HG612

Goto Basic>WAN

Select ptm.101 from list under WAN connection

Un-check Port binding: LAN1 and LAN2

Connection mode: Route

Connection type: PPPoE

User name and password to be filled in with your credentials

DHCP spoofing: enabled

Submit

Goto Basic>Lan

Lan host settings

[the ip address will be your external ip except for last octate]

[example your(WAN ip is 84.122.313.23) change to 84.122.313.1  ]

ip address: 84.122.313.1

subnet mask 255.255.255.0

click submit

DHCP Server

check enable

primary dns 8.8.8.8

secondary 8.8.4.4

WAN-side address allocation mode: Passthrough

associated connection ptm1.101

Submit

Log onto Netduma

Goto settings LAN

change Host address to 192.168.1.1

enable DHCP

automatic DNS: Enabled

Apply

Goto settings WAN

WAN ip Enabled

ip address: 84.122.313.23

subnet mask 255.255.255.0

gateway ip: 84.122.313.1

primary DNS 8.8.8.8

secondary DNS: 8.8.4.4

Apply

With this setup you dont need to use DMZ, you can use the Netduma for UPnP, PortForwarding and LAN

The PPPoE on the netduma is not the best for Congestion Control atleast for me.

edit

To log back into your modem use your new gateway ip address example 84.122.313.1 you do not need to use LAN2 on modem for access

Nice work been looking to get this setup for a while. I managed to get my Wan IP from the wan status page on the hg612 after entering my pppoe details and just followed the guide after that. Thanks man

if you do not have a static ip you will have to change settings in modem when your ip renews, i believe there is a more permanent way for dynamic ip but i dont know how sorry.
