Netduma Staff Netduma Crossy Posted February 28, 2015 Netduma Staff Share Posted February 28, 2015 If you reboot the router, it reboots It is the same as unplugging the power cord from the back of the router.

Zennon
Rebooting and router or modem during the day yields a higher sync then rebooting at night due to noise levels. On a night there is street lighting, household lighting, microwaves, more tv's on etc all which effect the SNRM.
doylebl
What's SNRM ?
Zennon
Signal noise ratio margin The higher the margin the lower the sync speed. Normally at 6db unless you have noise on the line DLM (dynamic line management) or your isp could set it higher. Scenario : On a night you might get noise on the line which would drop the SNRM to say 3db now if you rebooted at this point you would resync lower as it pushes it back to 6db
doylebl
So should you reboot everyday ?
Zennon
No do not reboot everyday. I was just pointing out why you can sync higher during the day rather than a night time re-sync / reboot. It is best to leave your modem/router on because if you use adsl with dlm or fibre then it will see many reboots as a line drop and can cause a higher snrm or interleaving to be added to the line increasing ping and lowering speed . So its best not to.
doylebl
Thanks. Any advice on advanced warfare and what settings for the Duma to help performance ?
Zennon
Mine is ...Geo on around your region expanding it at low player times like in the morning Ping ass set to double what your base ping is So if 20ms base then set to 40ms or higher (my ping is 15ms so i set to 30ms) Your speeds set in congestion control then set up and down to 70% on reactive. Device prioritisation all using the same slice of the pie.And this works out great for me mileage may vary for others though.

cranium2001
My nat was moderate last night for the first time. ( I'm going modem》nighthawk》netduma). I noticed I had my originally prioritized port from the nighthawk hooked to something else. I started by rebooting the netduma only. It went to strict. Next I rebooted the nighthawk, same result. Then I rebooted the duma, back to moderate. Hard booted the xbox one and still moderate. After I clicked on the strict box on the host filtering part of the dumas control page and refreshed it was still moderate. Backed all the way out to the aim menu and came back in and all was fine. I'm actually still having trouble with some people joining me though. Not sure why.
Zennon
I have Enable upnp forwarding ticked in miscellaneous settings with this set up I only have to reboot the duma router wise to get an open nat. and a reboot of the xbox itself. Modem > billion 7800n > duma set up with no dmz set as upnp forwarding does the biz.
cranium2001
I'll try that if I have any more trouble. So far so good. I have to remember where my prioritization lies. My phone was seeming slow ( I use it to adjust the router so it's hooked WiFi ) and that's what got me tinkering. I'm sure it would have been fine had I left it alone. What a dork I am. Zennon
If your nat is open and you are having trouble connecting to party members its could be that they have a moderate nat or they are outside your geo-filter and need to be added to your allow list. Have you put the R1 in the DMZ of your modem/router? Sounds like you may need to do it if you havent. when i get into A game 1 or 2 people is having 1-2 bar connection (sometimes 3 too) Are you talking about your friends or general people in game?
