  1. Thanks Fraser! How stable is it? I only ask because I'm currently in online classes, and sometimes getting knocked offline. This could be a big problem in the middle of a test. Sorry to continue high-jacking the comments.
  2. Just to piggyback off this post, what is the latest, most-stable firmware for the XR500? Currently on V2.3.2.134 and I have to restart mine every day or two because it keeps freezing.
  3. After doing a factory reset I was able to access the router interface to perform the setup, just without the DumaOS GUI by going to http://routerlogin.net/adv_index.htm It works okay now, but still not sure why it’s happening though.
  4. Mine is doing this same thing after a factory reset.
  5. Is this still the only fix? I am having this same issue.
  6. Fraser, your ability to be so involved and available to answer our questions as readily today as you were during the first few years of the R1 is nothing short of incredible. Please keep up the great work!
  7. Okay, status update… I managed to get upgraded to the latest beta firmware. Love the new layout. Wish I could enable/disable the Hybrid VPN from my mobile, but that’s a small thing. Using NordVPN, if I enable the Hybrid VPN it will connect, and we can watch IPTV and streaming services I otherwise wouldn’t be able to without a VPN, but it makes gaming a nightmare. Using the right side to add devices, the mode is grayed out (unable to change) but suggests the devices I am adding will not go through the VPN… but when the VPN is enabled, even when the device is added to the exclusion list, it’s obviously being routed through the VPN. High ping, packet loss, etc… is there something simple I’m likely missing with the Hybrid VPN settings or maybe in another setting somewhere to allow for mode selections?

I check for updates periodically but there never are any. I'll rummage the forums and see what steps I need to take. Upgrading firmwares is like Christmas for me. Everyone in the house hates it while I figure it out though. lol
  9. Thanks Fraser. You're right. I will follow up on the opposing post I replied to moments ago. I'm fairly confident a reset of the router and changing to another server config file fixed my issue.
  10. I’m also having issues with NordVPN on an XR500. It fails to connect using credentials and config files as before.
  11. I know this is an old topic, but just to eliminate possible issues, has the OpenVPN version been updated? Having a rough go with NordVPN config files right now on a Netgear Nighthawk XR500 running V2.3.2.134
  12. Sorry. Edit. Not "Daemonware". My colleagues corrected me. It's apparently Demonware.
  13. Great idea. And definitely the concept works from a logical standpoint, but those two ports pull different loads if I'm not mistaken... One is Teredo (Xbox party/chat/p2p) and the other is Daemonware (The Black Ops/Activision port mapping middleman). If everyone is getting the same outcome when manually port forwarding the R1, they've attempted using the alternate ports listed from Activision (3076,3077,etc,etc) or whatever alternate ports are open using UPnP, but in the end it always renders open NAT types for the consoles themselves in the network settings, while CoD:BO3 is reporting one as "Open" and the other "Moderate". There is a lack of Daemonware port mapping support somewhere. I just can't see under the hood to find it.
  14. And the rubics cube that is "Dual Console CoD:BO3 NAT Type" continues twisting. If anyone figures this out with a Netduma, there will be so much appreciation... Time to start researching how Netgear makes it happen with their Nighthawk. It has to be something trivial in their UPnP...
  15. This holds true for me too. Two Xbox One's and only one of us get an open NAT type. The other has to suffer. I could get both consoles an open NAT when they were both connected to a Netgear Nighthawk R7500 v2 using UPnP, but the geofilter and congestion control were more important for us. Unsure exactly where fault lies with this scenario.
