banjo22 got a reaction from iOrcus in Permanently reduce bandwidth for a device?
Hi, I was just wondering if there was a reverse smartboost to reduce the amount of bandwidth, both up and down, that a device can take? The reason is my NAS can be uploading/downloading a lot, and when it does, it seems to affect other devices on the network significantly, ie, my lad and I were just playing Rocket League together and suffered horrific lag due to the NAS downloading (despite our consoles being in the priority devices). Is there a way I can set the NAS to download at max one 1mb for example? The same as upload?
The R3 doesn't know how to classify the activities, most are classed as unknown.
Thanks

Thank you. That explains it then. The APs don't have DHCP, I was always confused by them never showing as online as they are passing traffic a lot.

Hi!
It depends on the traffic between the devices and the R3!
A device without traffic will be recognized as offline...
An AP or switch with a DHCP IP will also be recognized as offline because they act as bypassed devices.
For a managed AP or switch, the best is to disable DHCP on their GUI and give them a static DHCP IP (R3 range or not). This will allow you to keep their GUI access by keeping them silent at the R3 level.

Yep. Exact same setup as I had with the XR1000, which had many problems but prioritsing traffic never one of them

As above, should be resolved in the next version!

This is a known problem actually. We all hope that’s the new firmware release will fix it.

I've had the R1, XR1000 and now the R3 and considering the ability to do that still isn't here, I doubt it ever will. I'm in the same boat, I have reserved and renamed around 50 devices, considering the DumaOS is so good at tracking devices and what they are doing, you'd think a priority would being able to to save such a config.

I've notice when you rename one in 2.4 and if it goes to 5 on wifi, you have to rename it again. Hop that helps

Maybe, it is the entry prior to the disconnect, if you play direct on your modem do you get the same issues if you try it for a few days?

Not every day no, seems to be the evening but then that's only noticed because it's the time of day that I will be playing online

Thanks for this, there's clearly something going wrong in the logs. I've passed these over to the developers to debug, we'll get back to you when we've heard back.

Let us know how you get on! That's interesting, do monitor that and get back to us if it becomes a regular occurance.

I will give it a go. I noticed something a bit odd when using my PC this morning, I loaded it up as I normally would and the internet page wasn't resolving as in if the internet was down, it took around 10/15 seconds for the page to appear. Not a reported problem on 3.0? I will keep tabs on it just a bit strange.
