Thanks for your comments, I'll pass it on to marketing as it's something they would have a look at and confer with devs etc

Ameryjr reacted to Netduma Lew in NetDuma & Netgear
Howdy, Lew here - as Fraser said, he passed this message over to me and I wanted to respond with it since, as always, you make some great points that are hard to argue.
I'm not going to try and argue either. I know that isn't what you're looking for here and like you said, when you make content like this, you're just bringing attention to problems that you care passionately about. That passion is something that matters to every single one of us here, so the least I can do in return is explain our side.
Put simply, we really are doing everything we can to provide XR users with the latest and greatest we can offer them. Recently, this has come in the form of beta firmwares - we're glad they're landing well and people are enjoying them. But you're right when you say not everyone knows about them, even if we wish they did! Even in that case, not everyone wants to install beta firmwares for reasons that are totally understandable.
The problem with this is that, as you might already know, we don't really have a say in when those firmwares become ready for full release. That leads to people feeling left behind which, quite frankly, sucks. We want everyone who backs DumaOS to get the most they can possibly get from it. Trust me, you're right - I see the comments. They aren't ignored, and without sounding too dramatic, we feel them. However, as much as we'd love to 'take the reins', its the nature of partnerships; rest assured that we really are doing as much as we can with the reins that we do have.
On the communication front, no debates with what you're saying. I'll organise a meeting to really figure out how to give you guys the information you want, in whatever shape it ends up taking. There's a lot we're excited to share with every DumaOS fan in the near future.
Keep making the great content.

For those who don't want to watch the video this is a quick recap.
Things need to change with the Netduma Netgear partnership!
For those unaware I run a YouTube channel and for years now I've seen negative comments about the XR routers. The biggest one being updates have taken far too long. The other is that netduma and Netgear have not come out with a solid plan for the XR routers.
NetDuma
Please take the time to let everyone know in multiple ways what the plans are for the XR routers! For a long time now I feel like the burden has been on me to communicate what little I know to my YouTube community.
This is honestly taking the joy out of making DumaOS videos. People are frustrated that they spent good money on a product that hasn't had enough attention.
The XR betas are a good step forward but not everyone knows they're available. What's even worse is many more don't care and have moved on.
Personally I think DumaOS has a lot of potential but the team needs to take control of the XR situation man up admit you made some mistakes and outline a solid plan of how you're going to fix them.
Hopefully in a couple of weeks you guys can have a full outline of what the plans are. Then shout those plans at the top of your lungs to every social you're connected to. Let your community know we're not ignored and that you guys care. The policy of not talking about it until it's ready is no longer working for the XR routers.
All of these complaints are out of love for your product I really hope you listen and make some changes.

Ameryjr got a reaction from TrayDay in Terrible Bufferbloat, no matter what I try.. (XR450)
i have xfinity too, stable ping etc. i have noticed this exact thing as well. this comes down to our copper line connection. our download & upload ping will always suffer regardless of our settings. just try to get a stable ping as @Netduma Fraser mentioned above and that will do. the copper coaxial line was not meant to handle modern speeds and performance. xfinity is so bad with relaying their connection as well. you will be able to see it on your ping plotter! my recommendation is to try to get on fiber!

Ameryjr reacted to RouterUser in Terrible Bufferbloat, no matter what I try.. (XR450)
Hello all,
So, I've googled.. I've searched these forums.. I've tried about every single thing anyone has suggested.. I come across a few problems with anything I try.
First of all, I sit flush around these speeds, when I have DumaOS QoS set to my 'Xfinity' speeds from a speed test (900mbps/38mbps) and a 70/70 setting on the QoS sliders (see attached picture).
I messed with sliders like crazy, but no matter what I did with them, the only one that 'kind of' noticeably changed speed when I messed with it, was the upload one, and it never really came down in congestion latency (unless ipv6 was turned off, but that ruined the download speeds, as I'll explain momentarily). So, the sliders/QoS really didn't work much, for me..
So then I tried looking around on google and these forums.. Trying what people suggested..
I tried to turn OFF ipv6 in the router settings.. However, that made me get half the internet speed I was getting with it turned on (download). Upload stayed the same. However, even at half the download speeds on a speed test, the bufferbloat website kept either clocking me at 350mbps download, and giving +10 download latency, or clocking me at 160mbps download, and giving me +0 latency.. Although neither time I changed any sliders or speed information in DumaOS. So I'm unsure why it was so back and forth and inconsistent.. Upload with ipv6 turned off was getting roughly the same speeds, however clocking at 32mbps with a +10 latency.. So, I'm not sure what was going on. Sure, the rank changed to an A or B, but my download speeds also went down to either 320 or 160mbps.. when I pay for 'gig internet.' So I figure the loss wasn't worth it.
So, I turned ipv6 back on. I've tried just about everything I can think of, and, at this point, am very confused at what to do.
Just FYI, when plugged into the PC straight, no router, I get about the same speeds and bufferbloat ratings. Not sure if that info helps or not. Also, on XR450 V2.3.2.134 firmware ('newest').
I'm unsure what to do or what to try, at this point. Any ideas would be great. Also, if I'm just held down by the router, I'm open to moving on/forward with a newer model or something.. But I swear, this one isn't that old, so.. I don't know.
Thank you,
RouterUser
EDIT: On a side note.. For the last 2-3 weeks, Comcast has been hitting me with some lag spikes.. They happen every 2-20 minutes, and last about 3-10 seconds, each time. Usually around 5 seconds. OBS Studio goes from green upload speed to red, usually. Sometimes even dropping to 0kbps upload, briefly.. Before going green again, seconds later. I've contacted Xfinity multiple times, each time with them saying things look great on their end.. One time them saying my modem was sending back 'errors'.. I replaced my modem with an older modem, same issue. I replaced my modem with a brand new modem, same issues.. I bypassed the router completely to just the modem.. Same issues.. They sent a tech out who checked my hard wires, replaced my Cat5 cable going between the router and modem, and did a speed test on everything while he was here with his little tablet thing, and he said everything seemed fine, and he was unsure where the issue lied. So, I'm stuck, still getting this new issue, and unsure how to fix it. Also, each and everytime I contact Xfinity, I either get a call or a text, telling me 'health diagnostics were ran, and they believe my issue has been fixed, and to try to replicate the issue.' And each time, nothing was changed as far as my issue goes. (4 times in a row they've done that, now.... Little sus.). So, any ideas on that front would be great, too. I'm paying for 1200mb speeds from them, and I get roughly 800-900, anyways.

Ameryjr reacted to TG3NOC1D3 in DSCP and WMM Tagging On Xbox
I'd truly be interested to see which providers actually see the tagging. Early research shows that any provider using Docsis 3.1 will see the qos tags and put that specific traffic into a higher priority queue. I know spectrum coax internet using a docsis 3.1 supports the qos tagging on their end so you will get put into less congested queues for gaming. Not sure if fiber modems will see it yet, I'll have to do some testing and get with the engineering team for my local fiber provider.

Yeah I think they've updated it again, I think it only lasted 3 hours if that, I've passed it on and I'm going to see if there is anything more permanent we can do

Both now I believe, you should be able to see what game you're playing on the console e.g. CoD in the network monitor
Have you tried with SmartQoS?

In MW19 I had the best experience prioritising my games console and duma classified games at the same time. Back using the earlier firmware for the R2, before you could select apply to wan/normal etc. I haven't experienced a connection like that at all with any firmware since they introduced the other options. I've tried reverting back to all the older firmware but I couldn't get the congestion control/traffic prio page to load at all.
I still need to find what settings work for me with the new firmware. Ps just realised this is an old post after typing all this

Welcome to the forum!
Yep, the next DumaOS update to the XR500 will contain Ping Optimiser. We're currently just working with NETGEAR on testing it and ironing out any kinks.

no worries now fellas, i think she was just old and it was time, I'm back with the xr500. I couldn't resist not having dumaos anymore haha! I'm about to buy the r2 though,
loved the r1 man. it was magnificent besides the 1cpu it possessed🤣

Sorry for the delay, the issue is with getting the proper details to access the unit so we need to speak with the developers that worked on the R1 back in the day and see if we still have this info. I'll chase them up.

The only thing to do would be a factory reset there, there are no other methods of creating space via the interface, the team will be able to take a further look this week
