Matthew_D reacted to Zli in is it really useful to use steady ping
@Netduma FraserIs it possible in the next software update at the end of the month, as Alex said, to set this to start with 5ms and not start with 10ms? Example: I have the Geo Filter for the Legionowo server for MW3 and my Ping is 40ms and when I set it to expert 10ms, as you can see in the video, my ping is 50ms. So I don't see the difference between Simple and Expert mode. If I set the Expert ping to 45ms, my ping would then be 95ms in the game.

---Ping is not necessarily the King!
A stable server... An optimized line... works very well.
I have seen people play on 100ms servers and it works very well for them.
Keep in mind that Steady ping is a tool that certainly adds an extra ping buffer but that ensures stability in games (no lag, WTF moment) on unstable servers or in case of congestion on your line.---

It's always useful to have enabled to help cover any jitter/spikes as you can never know when they may occur. In your case using simple or expert set at 20ms would limit the increase in the ping while still receiving the benefits.

@Matthew_D
You only need this feature if your ping spikes consistently in game/have jitter problems do to your ISP it more or less it a remedy for those that do have bad jitter but if you don't then it puts you at disavantage as your just increasing your ping artificially with no benefit.
Ping is King do not forget that I still get shot behind corners it not like you can break physics but there something called consistancy and if you want that then it beneficial. My ping spikes around 5-10ms so I just use simple mode and it really hard to tell difference to be honest as the router already does a good job without it but that probably because I don't really suffer from jitter as much as others.
Update
For my purposes, it would be preferable if the feature were disabled. There is a noticeable delay, and Fuzzy is correct in stating that this issue is solely related to the server, not your ISP.

Yeah pretty much the above. By having a consistent ping you're more in sync with the server so it should play better.

It will differ from each user. Some may find it helps in their games, while others will see no improvement in using it. It's all about personal preference.
I personally enjoy it. But, the majority of others, do not.
