Console delay when booting up

Hi, Any idea of a potential ETA for a fix to the issue with consoles taking time to connect to the internet when they turn off. Seems to take anywhere from 5 to 15 seconds from turning on my xbox or ps5 before it detects an internet connection. My ps5 often defaults to the wireless connection because of this issue which can be frustrating. Thanks

Disable the built in ad blocker if you are having issues loading vidoes etc, I had the same issue with devices not loading things that tend to have adverts involved and this seemed to resolve it. -

Same issue here as well. Says I have 4.0.21 available to update but keeps failing to update.
-
Same issue, it is like it cuts off the internet the second it detects it is in sleep mode or has been powered off and takes 5-10 seconds to reconnect to interent when the xbox boots back up.

It's pointless, I mean that in the least child like, whiny way. There are clearly issues with your software / firmware. Lots of posts of people having the same issues, trying the same fixes and all having the same issues still. I have tried the manual assigning of the LAN i.p addresses that was suggested last time and it still doesn't matter. Like I said, I don't get drop outs until I introduce the xr1000. If you have to troubleshoot lots of issues just to get it to function, that is an issue with your product in itself. You will have lots of users who have little to no network experience so your product should be as much "plug n play" as possible really. I appreciate your guys responses to forum posts, can't complain in that regards. Unfortunately, there are clearly fundamental issues with your product and having a year, sometimes more in between firmware updates and fixes just frustrates your users and forces them elsewhere. I understand certain things are out of your control and have to go through netgear but hopefully the new firmware is not too far away, until the next bug inevitably sends you guys back to the drawing board. I know complaining does not make things work any quicker, but it's a £350 product that should work better / be more reliable than what it currently is.

I know you don't do release times etc, but hope its sooner rather than later. My internet cuts out at least once a day, everyday, and always seems to happen at the most innapropriate time and been happening for the last year or so. I know its xr1000 related cause I took it out and used my standard router from my isp and no issues for 2 weeks whilst I did not have the xr1000 connected. Unfortuantely I need to use the XR1000 for the geo filter otherwise it would be in a cupboard collecting dust.

Firmware 3.2 for XR500

I still wouldn't hold your breath, it then has to go through netgear testing and the XR1000 has been sat on waiting for netgears testing for months. The netduma testing was complete and fine ages ago but no idea when netgear will pull their fingers out and release it. -

DHCP issue xr1000

Yes, did this around a month ago after purchasing the xr1000, the disconnects are not as frequent as they were before doing this / when I had the xr500 but they still happen. Always at the most inconvient time as well. To clarify, its only the main devices that we use in the house that stay in the house I have set ip adresses for, so consoles, pc etc. Things like phones, smart watches etc they are assigned an ip by the router from .50 onwards as and when they connect so not sure if that makes a difference. Even if it does, I can't assign a static ip for every possible device that may connect to the internet, not practical nor should it be a requirement of a £300 router. -
I am at the point now where all I can do is rant about the state of the netgear routers you support. Now I don't know whether it is an issue with your software or the netgear routers themselves but I have now had the XR500 as well as recently upgrading to the XR1000 and both have exactly the same issue that has yet to have been resolved for the best part of 2 years owning these devices. I have tried the recommended steps in these forums such as setting static ips for devices such as xbox, pc etc and then setting the dynamic ips to begin after .50 at the end of the ip address and still the internet cuts out randomly and comes back around a minute later. It is definitely to do with the distribution of ip addresses through DHCP and I am now fed up of being kicked out of games as a result for the internet to immediately reconnect a minute or so later. Is there an update on the horizon that is going to resolve this issue? If not, that is me done being a netduma customer, had one since the netduma r1 but cant cope with internet cutting out every couple of days now at the most innapropriate of times.

XR500 Internet cutting out
leeeroybiscuit replied to leeeroybiscuit's topic in NETGEAR Nighthawk Support (XR range)
Thanks for the response, in terms of devices its only around 10-15 max at a time. Its only a two person household. Thanks for the suggestion, will give it a go. It shouldn't be the case though that the fix you have suggested should be required by the user. I'm lucky i am fairly tech savvy, the average family use case would expect to be able for the most part just plug and play for a router costing over £150. Should really be able to handle less than 20 devices at a time for the cost without cutting the internet out on a near daily basis. Not having a go and appreciate the responses. Customer service is top notch. -
