  1. thanks. i was using normal for my rules, however you suggest sticking to classified games option which lists gaming under the wireless option, which is contrary to your advice to use select normal. im sorry for being a pain. attention to detail and problem solving my life away doesn't always come across as friendly to others, while im only trying to confirm my understanding is correct. Happy holidays and the Poms havent had a very good start to the ashes, any thoughts on how the boxing day test is going to go?
  2. sorry for making extra posts, i thought doing so would make solving 1 issue separately an easier process. I am using a arris CM8200b and it is a cable modem on a HFC network. i am directly connected to it. The custom ports you saw was my attempt to try to identify which ports were being used to determine whether traffic could be identified on the different ports, so i could determine whether traffic was occurring on them. and this was after having poor performance using the default QOS classified option for some time. infact i suspected it could have been making it worse and wasnt able to determine that as even when having the classified games off and no other priorities set my experience was the same, due to it prioritising significantly more upload packets then downloads which surely isnt appropriate for how its intended to work. Downloads should at least be the same if not the one which is much higher. shouldn't the server update my console with the game state at least as often as my console updates the server which my actions in game? my ping is the value shown in game and briefly confirmed sing the geofilter, however basing that from the auto pings selection of peer as no dedicated server is being shown or identified in my area. my connection has been connecting to the game servers at this level for many years and ive confirmed there to be no issues regarding it using several methods included running ping plotter on my PC to a server while also gaming to reviewing the results shows no spikes greater then a few ms. i received A+ in all categories when using the netduma connection benchmark and doing so at different times of the day and trying multiple during the peak internet usage times of the afternoon and evenings and received the same results. Same goes for when using sites such as DSL reports and doing a test there as well as checking for buffer bloat. The info regarding how the xbox is using ports and not using UDP for all traffic was what i was hoping to gather enough evidence of to seek guidance of a work around for. This amounts to a large part of the traffic listed when using the network monitor and unknown traffic amounts to another large chuck and is only a fraction of the size compared to the remainder of the data shown and many tests done while having the game played and i selecting the pie charts. It also is something ive long suspected is getting worse due to the xbox network setting page for years telling people there connected using IPv4 and to go to xbox.com/ipv6 and spruiking the benefits of using such, and Microsoft has been transitioning all their infrastructure to it as the primary way to connect for several years however while i have IPv6 off currently when using it enabled the game still reports using IPv4 so disabling IPv6 was another troubleshooting method tried with no change
  3. thanks, however im not using wifi and wifi is actually disabled. so confused about why anything i select here is assigned to the table in this way, and now wonder if this is possibly why the netduma shows my xbox going offline and back online when viewing the network devices page and why in the QOS the red dot does always show when traffic i expect to be covered by the rule is occurring but the indicator does on and off. this is the last screen that appears after setting an QOS rule, and the selection here is what appears under wireless type as shown in the OP picture. If this applying WIFI specific rules intended for wifi traffic which i understand to be done differently then cabled traffic how do i go about selecting the cabled option
  4. as per title and attached photo. unrelated note, this is beta firmware but i cant see to find access to the beta thread, have i lost access to that area?
  5. when setting up QOS and applying advanced tab to set ranges what does the apply to WAN check box do and what should it be used for? it doesnt appear to be enabled for the duma os classified games default and i expected that whats the point of QOS if the router does what ever it feels like to packets when sending to WAN. prioritising for QOS for me on LAN is mostly irrelevant as i always play with only the gaming device on and wifi disabled, so in that case would using QOS actually be harmful due to unnecessary processing on LAN? and also would enabling on WAN be useful to prevent possible pone home type events from outside home sending data not related to gaming using bandwidth id prefer QOS to apply to my game?
  6. the are no Australian servers listed, and there are no servers showing pings under 100ms for me. this is however not correct as i play on a server within 20ms. it says connected 36 failed 10 for vanguyard. FYI for coldwar it shows 10ms for aussie server. Previously this server wasn't showing or any sever at all for australia so thanks
  7. Kinel what console? no 3075? on my xbox series x the Internal IP shown as listed in the vanguard network settings lists :3075 after it. my testing shows when using port ranges individually is after a few hours up and down are farly close on a port, but 3075 packets are 5x higher then 3074 packets for the timeframe, and games are not at all enjoyable, however my hit detection was markedly improved, however movement felt horrible and i died to invisible players were standing so completely out in the open on kill cams im worried i should see an optometrist
  8. I cannot achieve open NAT in vanguard dispite having open nat in console and all other COD games. The in game connection settings page lists port :3075 at the end of internal IP. the xbox network connection settings page defualts 3074 or allows a manual port to be selected of several random port numbers above 52000 also xbox uses 3074 for toredo relay. How can I improve things coz the game is hard to play when the connection is lucky dip, and things like what sure you will think is a joke but something that happens so regularly I'm starting to feel like it is intended that. Dieing while standing somewhere on the map, which happens to be directly in line of site of next spawn, with no friendlies close enough around to explain what happens next. Respawning and seeing your previous life character still standing firing its last shots and dieing. And occasionally seeing that spotted message flash on the bottom of the screen so momentarily it's only shown while you previous death player was still standing. This is with allegedly no lag occurring and maintaining 21ms ping on a connection that has proven reliability and spikes occur so infrequently of a few ms at most. I play only with all other devices in house fully turned off, and wifi disabled. Also console is set so I have to manually check for game and device updates. Sorry for the long post, but I feel that the likely senerio is due to the use of TCP connections for some of the gameplay data on addition to UDP, and due to the conflicting priorities of their design in regards to transmission of data. is there anything I can do? Another thing is my movement speed is so much slower others that sprinting next to others with full movement optimising class they are able to increase there distance from me 100% of the time. FYI im on series x running 120hz with game st 120hz on appropriate monitor supporting monitor tested with and without VRR settings enabled and also when running everything set to 60hz, and in all attempts the results are the same, if any of that may effect things.
  9. Thanks, that's not what I wanted to hear but was what I was kinda expecting. Atleast my expectations will align with how games play. Atleast I know why every lobby plays completely different to the one before, so thanks
  10. Thats good to hear that you have determined the cause of the chat issue, im sure many people will be happy to hear that. Yes, that's best case scenario, tested at times of lowest usage rate for my area as per the providers CVC bandwidth utilisation graph. Peak usage only marginally increases both the packet lose percentage and the highest peak range for ping (ie the 40ms can go to 70ms)
  11. I guess I was hoping I found the smoking gun you needed to fix chat. I've been chasing this issue around in circles pretty much since this service was connected last December, ive changed providers thinking the issue could have been due to the ISP handled backhual and there connectivity, to a provider who has the greatest connectivity availible here and was disappointed to discover no change to the issue I wanted to address. But I wasn't expecting that my pings to overseas servers such as Asian servers and also US servers are 20-30ms lower then the old provider, which was a nice surprise. Sorry about blabbing on, I guess I'm looking for any info about HFC connections you might be able to share. As the cabling from my wall socket to the street, and then to the network infrastructure for my area is all brand new, new trenches were dug for it less then 2 years ago so its probably unlikely there a 'fault' that can be repaired. With HFC being a shared service so to speak, am I expecting something its just not able to deliver, ie achieving a steady ping with little to no jitter and no detectable packet loss. The lowest packet loss I've been able to record in ping plotter over a 10 minute period is about 3 %, and the average would be 5%. Thats on a idle connection and it doesn't seam to matter if I try to congest the line amount of packet loss is the same. Is a ping of 8ms that bounces to 40ms about half the time, with less then 5% packet loss, about as good as HFC gets? Am I being unreasonable expecting something much better then this? With no other choice now adsl has been switched off in my area, and so far not hearing anything encouraging from my ISP, im looking for guidance whether I should continue trying to resolve this or just give up. Anyone having good experience on HFC? If so where you from? Any Aussies with nbn HFC getting better service then I am?
  12. nah it fails even with respond to ping turned on, and the R1 rebooted. whats got me stumped is the low level packet loss im getting regardless of settings, device port and change of lan cables. nothing ive done has managed to change the fluctuating pings from 8ms up to around 40ms which happens on idle connection and when attempting to congest the line. same thing with the packet loss. ive tried isp support and no luck, but ive got another support request in with ping plotter logs so hopefully i can get it sorted. 2-5% packet lose is frustrating as hell, but im positive ive narrowed it down to the 'line' as i get the same results computer wired direct to modem, which i hadnt last time i spoke to them so they basically ignored me after the basic line test
  13. ok ill turn it on, just a fyi that was disabled following a hard reset as per the instructions above. yes i have respond to ping off. im guessing your asking coz turning it off broke icmp
  14. No, but i did change it to 5 app tries upon reboot. but so so far its been good. that screen i posted, which by default has 'port scan protection' disabled, is that the recommended setting? As per the attached pic, 25 servers failed to ping when trying the Coldwar Ping Heatmap As per the second pic, at https://ipv6-test.com/ which i ran a test from as my new ISP supports IPv6, i got the following result. 'Your router or firewall is filtering ICMPv6 messages sent to your computer. An IPv6 host that cannot receive ICMP messages may encounter problems like some web pages loading partially or not at all.' Just wondering if this could be why party chat might not be working. And word of caution, last week my activation account was 'hacked' Someone managed to log into my account and change the email address effectively locking me out of it, without even a email notice saying it had been done. just when i loaded up the game i got the message saying a activision account is needed to play online and asking me to create a account. im in the middle of the process which they say takes 10 days to recover the account so fingers crossed. ive not been able to find out how the data breach happened, but i assume it got to be something activision/ Call of Duty related as no other service i have was affected. So i recommended everyone to change their password to avoid suffering such a problem
  15. So i followed your advice and noticed the following as being enabled after logging back in after the hard reset
