  1. Same as usual, unsurprisingly. I don't think even a LAN party would have a ping that low.
  2. The in-game telemetry in MWII has gone weird since the Season 3 update yesterday. Now reporting a 1ms ping, when the day before the fastest it could ever get was 15ms. Anyone else noticed this?
  3. Ah, so parking the issue of NAT for a moment, it turns out adding port 443 didn't work after all. Although COD was showing my preferred German VPN under Geographical Region in the in-game settings, it was actually routing traffic through my local UK server. I noticed because the latency was too low. I then did some tests with a far away VPN server in Los Angeles and got the same result (sub 20ms). When I went back to Hybring VPNing the Playstation as a whole (not specific services) the latency jumped to 200ms, so I knew the VPN was working. Tbh it's not really a massive issue. I can at least get the VPN to work, which is the most important thing. I just got to keep enabling Hybrid VPN whenever I want to play COD, and disabling it when I don't. But it would be nice if I could just get the add services feature to work. If there's another PS5 owner out there that uses Surfshark, lemme know where I'm going wrong...
  4. Thanks for the response, @Netduma Liam. Much appreciated. Yes, I use Geofilter. I'll try disabling and see what happens. My modem is an ONT fibre modem. No wifi/routing capabilities.
  5. Port 443 worked! Thanks @Netduma Liamand @Fuzy However, my NAT is now showing as Strict in COD. Any ideas how I might be able to change it to moderate? I've read elsewhere on the forum that an open NAT isn't possible with a VPN, but moderate would certainly be better. My UPnP is enabled.
  6. Thanks for the suggestions, guys. I'll give port 443 on TCP a go. Yes, @kinel my VPN is Surfshark too.
  7. I can get Hybrid VPN to VPN my entire Playstation, and this works fine with COD. However when I try to restrict Hybrid VPN to just COD, it doesn't work. COD's in-game network settings show my local UK server rather than my preferred one in Frankfurt. I'm using the ports listed on the Activision site for my console (Playstation). TCP: 3478-3480 UDP: 3074, 3478-3479 Any ideas where I'm going wrong?
  8. UPDATE: had some amazing games with 30ms and 40ms ping (in-game telemetry) on French and German servers/peer connections. Hit registration felt spot on. So maybe the thing to do is not fixate on a particular ping number or range, but how the game plays on a particular server/region. Despite having the lowest ping (4ms according to Netduma; sub 20ms on in-game telemetry), my nearest dedicated server - in London - plays like garbage. It's pure misery. Mainland European servers and peer connections are far better. The difference is night and day.
  9. All I can say is geofiltration works for me. Without it, the game automatically puts me in servers where I am at a disadvantage. If like me, you need to get away from the servers that are closest to you, I would also recommend investing in a VPN to relocate yourself to the desired region. Otherwise, matchmaking will take a long time. Without a VPN, the game detects where you're based and will attempt to put you into local servers. Your geofilter may say 'no', but the game will continually try to connect to them.
  10. For two blissful years I played Cold War and had zero issues. I never even had to look at my Netduma. Just set the Geofilter to Europe (I’m based in London), the ping assist to 50ms, and I was good to go. Everything worked perfectly and gunfights felt fair. Now with MWII, the nightmare begins once more. Despite having a full fibre connection, I’m getting obliterated in games where I have the lowest ping. I’m talking about games where my ping is sub 20ms according to the in-game telemetry. In theory, I should have the advantage. Ping is king, right? But nothing could be further from the actual, lived experience. I just consistently lose all the one-to-ones. Every 50/50 encounter, every coin flip goes my opponent’s way. In a way that simply doesn’t happen when I’m playing on exactly the same servers with Cold War. So now I’ve resorted to using a VPN in Spain and playing on their dedicated server, and initial impressions so far are that gunfights feel “fair” again. Not that I’m stomping the opposition. Far from it. This is still a bloody tough game. Especially when you're constantly being battered by SBMM. But at least I'm starting to win one-to-ones again. My hunch is that the lag compensation model by Infinity Ward favours the higher lagging player. I think there are probably limits to this. Once you get to 100ms+, you'll be noticeably a step behind other players, and the server will start favouring the lower ping players again. 50 - 70ms is probably the sweet spot. I'll experiment with different servers and try to find out. Be interested to hear what other VPN users from England have to say on the matter. I see Alex.Devine swears by Spain and Italy. In fact, one of the first things I noticed when playing on the Spanish server is how many Brits are playing on there!
  11. Oh there's a patch note about it - apparently they've removed it temporarily because of a visual issue.
  12. For some inexplicable reason, BO:CW seems to have removed the in-game ping display with the latest update. Damn, that feature was good. Thank God we can fall back on the Netduma...
  13. I've now tried the UK, French and Spanish dedi's and the ping reported in-game is always around 20ms higher than the Netduma's - so the processing time explanation seems plausible
  14. I've noticed a discrepancy between the ping reported by the Netduma and the ping reported by BOCW's in-game network monitor (found in settings). Netduma is reporting the ping as 20ms, while the game is reporting it as 40ms. Not complaining or anything (both are pretty damn acceptable in my opinion!) but I was just curious as to why the game is reporting a ping double that of the Netduma. Playing on PS5, using an XR500 with Dumas OS.3.
