NetDuma Negative Comments

I thought I would try to balance the negative threads on here from users who dont really know what they are doing.

I have tested the new update by allowing two other players today, a friend from louisiana and his friend from N.Y.

I dont have much issues getting them into my lobby and we usually work it out quick.

I havent got a host out of my geo filter yet and my ping is set to 0.

I opened my geo filter a little to under 700 miles and we got matches pretty fast.

Once you know what to do with the router and how each feature works, you will see how good it is.

Yea it might be a little plug n play but for the best connection you must tweak the settings.

Remeber that the servers are being bombarded with players from everywhere.

To any person thinking about this router or that has just ordered it, dont let negative comments mislead you.

Most of the time on here common sense isnt so common.

The main factor we have to assume is most people don't even know what lag (latency) is, nor are they tech savvy enough to understand how it effects their game. So, when they see guys like Drift0r, and others advertising the Netduma, all they know is "Wow. This thing will make me a CoD God! I need to get it now!"

So, they buy it, hook it up, but don't realize not only do they have to fine tune the CC, Geofilter and other parameters to work with their network, but 90% of the time it's their network that is the source of the problem e.g. They are playing on Wi-Fi because the console is in their room, and the family router is downstairs, etc.

I don't mean to generalize, but a lot of buyers could save their money because as good as the R1 is, it can't magically give them a better connection on their end. It might not even be their fault per say. It could be due to crappy ISP throttling, routing, bad physical infrastructure (house to main line), etc.

My point is the Netduma is a niche product for those who have a basic and advanced understanding of how gaming over a WAN works and is effected by numerous factors and who also know it's limitations as well. It would be great if the Netduma was simply plug and play, and the software auto configured the CC, Geofilter et al., but that's not how it works and was never intended for the masses that way, IMO.

I'll just add Iain's recent post here http://forum.netduma.com/topic/9309-tech-support-update/as he is working on making it as simple as possible to use. Please give him your suggestions.

Also to anyone reading, I realise when something doesn't work it can be frustrating, completely understandable. If you go to the trouble of making a thread displaying your dissatisfaction it does not require much more effort to describe the issue you're having so we can help you because in 99% of cases we can.

Agreed Fraser, titles like... "this router sucks " doesn't give anyone much in the way of information to try and assist the person with the issues.
