trait10
I have a modem connected to the wall, netduma after that and then the tp-link 5 port sg105 switch. My PC is in another room and is connected with cat 5 to the switch. It doesn't get a connection to internet. Modem -> netduma -> switch -> PC Before buying netduma I had modem -> switch -> router -> PC without any problems. What should I do to get it working? Netduma Staff Netduma Crossy Posted October 16, 2015 Netduma Staff Share Posted October 16, 2015 Hi Trait, welcome to the forum Do you get any error when connecting to the internet? Does it work if you connect directly to the Netduma?
trait10
Windows shows no internet connection. If I connected my laptop to netduma, it works. Even my other router is able to broadcast the same WLAN when it is connected to netduma. So anything that is straight connected to netduma seems to be working. Problem seems to be the switch. Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted October 16, 2015 Administrators Share Posted October 16, 2015 Are any devices connected to the switch able to get a connection?
trait10
No. Everything from the switch onward are "dead". Switch and the cables from that are untouched, like before.
Netduma Staff Netduma Crossy Posted October 16, 2015 Netduma Staff Share Posted October 16, 2015 Could you try connecting the switch to a different port on the Netduma?
Zennon
And trying new Ethernet cable from the Duma to the switch and then switch to device if Crossys suggestion does not work.
trait10
Problem solved! Tried everything suggested, different ports and different cables. Finally I noticed the led with the switch connection wasn't on at the modem/netduma endpoint. At the switch endpoint it blinked yellow which let me into a conclusion that there has to be something wrong with the RJ-45 wall socket (which I didn't even touch at any point). Apparently the socket wiring is not so good and something got loose on the wirings. I gave the wiring few pushes with a screwdriver and behold there was a light on the modem! Now I finally can get to the testing of the real deal. Thank you everyone for your support!
