tjl118 Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 Would there be any benefit to have a modem in bridge mode connected to, say a nighthawk, that is connected to the netduma?? My understanding is that when you add a router you create an extra hop for packets to pass through which just makes the process longer. any suggestions or recommendations??
Zennon Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 Modem(bridge mode) > Netduma > Nighthawk (In AP mode) would give you all the features of the Netduma and AC wifi from the Nighthawk in access point mode. That would be the optimum set up for me. If you do not already own the Nighthawk then the Wifi on the Netduma is great the best I have ever had on any router I have owned.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted October 3, 2015 Administrators Posted October 3, 2015 I would reiterate what Zennon has said, that would be the best way to do it if you still wanted to use the Nighthawk, if you chose your set up the congestion control on the NETDUMA would not work correctly and imo it is one of the best features
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted October 5, 2015 Administrators Posted October 5, 2015 why is netduma not modem/router? The best way to support all connection types was to have it as a router so it can plug into all types of modems/ISP hubs
