ByMgRs
I am thinking about buying a subscription for Private Internet Access (https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/pages/buy-vpn/) as I want to be able to anonymously use uTorrent, avoid ddos and be anonymous basically. Any idea how to set it up, found this article for ddwrt but not sure what applies (https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/pages/client-support/dd-wrt-openvpn) ? Thanks
Netduma Staff Netduma Crossy Posted August 21, 2015 Netduma Staff Share Posted August 21, 2015 I use that. I actually had trouble setting it up cause the config didn't work. But it works now and when I use it works fine You basically just have to make your own config from the different bits they give you.
ByMgRs
could you possibly give a template or example crossy? thanks bud, do you use it for utorrent or general?
Netduma Staff Netduma Crossy Posted August 21, 2015 Netduma Staff Share Posted August 21, 2015 I use it mainly for testing things or doing stuff that means I need to be able to use different IPs. Download this. Open the file for the server you want to connect to. Delete line 'ca ca.crt' and line 'cel-crl-verify crl.pem'. Add the following to the bottom: <ca> INSERT THE CONTENT FROM ca.crt </ca> Paste the config you've made into the box. Enter username and password. Click connect. End config should look something like this: client dev tun proto udp remote germany.privateinternetaccess.com 1194 resolv-retry infinite nobind persist-key persist-tun tls-client remote-cert-tls server auth-user-pass comp-lzo verb 1 reneg-sec 0 <ca> -----BEGIN CERTIFICATE----- MIID2jCCA0OgAwIBAgIJAOtqMkR2JSXrMA0GCSqGSIb3DQEBBQUAMIGlMQswCQYD VQQGEwJVUzELMAkGA1UECBMCT0gxETAPBgNVBAcTCENvbHVtYnVzMSAwHgYDVQQK ExdQcml2YXRlIEludGVybmV0IEFjY2VzczEjMCEGA1UEAxMaUHJpdmF0ZSBJbnRl cm5ldCBBY2Nlc3MgQ0ExLzAtBgkqhkiG9w0BCQEWIHNlY3VyZUBwcml2YXRlaW50 ZXJuZXRhY2Nlc3MuY29tMB4XDTEwMDgyMTE4MjU1NFoXDTIwMDgxODE4MjU1NFow gaUxCzAJBgNVBAYTAlVTMQswCQYDVQQIEwJPSDERMA8GA1UEBxMIQ29sdW1idXMx IDAeBgNVBAoTF1ByaXZhdGUgSW50ZXJuZXQgQWNjZXNzMSMwIQYDVQQDExpQcml2 YXRlIEludGVybmV0IEFjY2VzcyBDQTEvMC0GCSqGSIb3DQEJARYgc2VjdXJlQHBy aXZhdGVpbnRlcm5ldGFjY2Vzcy5jb20wgZ8wDQYJKoZIhvcNAQEBBQADgY0AMIGJ AoGBAOlVlkHcxfN5HAswpryG7AN9CvcvVzcXvSEo91qAl/IE8H0knKZkIAhe/z3m hz0t91dBHh5yfqwrXlGiyilplVB9tfZohvcikGF3G6FFC9j40GKP0/d22JfR2vJt 4/5JKRBlQc9wllswHZGmPVidQbU0YgoZl00bAySvkX/u1005AgMBAAGjggEOMIIB CjAdBgNVHQ4EFgQUl8qwY2t+GN0pa/wfq+YODsxgVQkwgdoGA1UdIwSB0jCBz4AU l8qwY2t+GN0pa/wfq+YODsxgVQmhgaukgagwgaUxCzAJBgNVBAYTAlVTMQswCQYD VQQIEwJPSDERMA8GA1UEBxMIQ29sdW1idXMxIDAeBgNVBAoTF1ByaXZhdGUgSW50 ZXJuZXQgQWNjZXNzMSMwIQYDVQQDExpQcml2YXRlIEludGVybmV0IEFjY2VzcyBD QTEvMC0GCSqGSIb3DQEJARYgc2VjdXJlQHByaXZhdGVpbnRlcm5ldGFjY2Vzcy5j b22CCQDrajJEdiUl6zAMBgNVHRMEBTADAQH/MA0GCSqGSIb3DQEBBQUAA4GBAByH atXgZzjFO6qctQWwV31P4qLelZzYndoZ7olY8ANPxl7jlP3YmbE1RzSnWtID9Gge fsKHi1jAS9tNP2E+DCZiWcM/5Y7/XKS/6KvrPQT90nM5klK9LfNvS+kFabMmMBe2 llQlzAzFiIfabACTQn84QLeLOActKhK8hFJy2Gy6 -----END CERTIFICATE----- </ca>

Trolling_Farm
I have been a PIA user for almost 2 years now, the servers are stable and I get the ISP speeds through PIA. So 90U-12D. The only thing I have to say is that if you TORRENT use the nl.privateinternetaccess.com and make sure you use the PIA application so you can get the open port for the server you connect to. The NL is the PIA torrent server. So for utorrent make sure you open the settings and change the port to whatever the app tells you. Also make sure you change your DNS to the PIA servers. You can also go to www.dnsleaktest.com to see if you are leaking. *****PULLED from PIA****** The dns leak protection feature activates VPN dns leak protection. This ensures that DNS requests are routed through the VPN. This enables the greatest level of privacy and security but may cause connectivity issues in non-standard network configurations. This can be enabled and disabled in the Windows application, while it is enabled by default on our Mac OS X application. We use our own private DNS servers for your DNS queries while on the VPN. After connecting we set your operating system's DNS servers to 209.222.18.222 and 209.222.18.218. When using a DNS Leak testing site you should expect to see your DNS requests originate from the IP of the VPN gateway you are connected to. If you change your DNS servers manually or if for some other reason they are changed this does not necessarily mean your DNS is leaking. Even if you use different DNS servers the queries will still be routed through the VPN connection and will be anonymous. ************** Also I would like to make note that a lot of torrent sites are blocking VPN's. Trolling_Farm
I haven't tired to run a VPN with the Netduma yet. I will test it out and post my speeds.

Trolling_Farm
which sites block vpns? things like kickass? correct and a few others, IDK I read about it a few days ago I myself use kickass still with NL. Its a pain because I have to download the torrent first then connect to my vpn.

Netduma Staff Netduma Crossy Posted September 21, 2015 Netduma Staff Share Posted September 21, 2015 How on earth do you open the file in Step 2? I've tried dragging and dropping it into a notepad in both Windows and Mac. First you need to extract it as it is a compressed zip file then you can open the files that are inside it You can use something like winrar to do it.
