scbba Posted February 16 Posted February 16 No matter what setting I have on the r3 Im shooting marshmallows in all fps games. I have 500/500 down fiber by Live Oak with MoCA 2.5 because where I live atm, I can't run wired from the ONT. I gave the sliders at 70/70 steady ping at 32ms because I have one of my hops between 11ms and 7ms. My base ping to the servers is about 15ms to 19ms, depending on which server in Atlanta I connect to. We don't have a lot of activity its just me and 1 other person using the internet I use wired, and they use wireless. I have the 70/70 set to always. I've tried turning off steady ping and smart boost, and it's still the same results. Does anyone know what I'm missing? I forgot to mention I am on the last R3 firmware as I have only had it for 2 weeks.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted February 16 Administrators Posted February 16 Have you adjusted from 70%? That is only a starting point so there may be a better percentage for you. By steady ping at 32ms does that mean you're using expert? If so switch to simple and try with that. Force a server slightly further away, even if it has a higher ping it may play better. How do you have SmartBOOST set?
scbba Posted February 16 Author Posted February 16 Ive tried from 60 to 100 on sliders and I have tried simple and expert with no change. I even went as far as buying a public ip to get away from cgnat
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted February 16 Administrators Posted February 16 Your ping sounds fine and it's unlikely you're experiencing any congestion so I think forcing some different servers might give you a better experience purpleandgold33 1
scbba Posted February 16 Author Posted February 16 ok I will move the geo filter around this week and report back this weekend Netduma Fraser 1

scbba Posted May 4 Author Posted May 4 Sorry it took me so long to respond. Will moving the filter cause a better route ?

No worries - it doesn't force a different route but if the servers you're usually connecting to are under load they may perform poorly. Forcing other servers even if they have a slightly higher ping may have less load and therefore give you a better experience
scbba Posted Sunday at 11:36 AM Author Posted Sunday at 11:36 AM I can get a A+ plus on Wi-Fi but I’m in os5 wired connection and i still shoot marshmallows. I’m not sure what’s going on

Did you try forcing different servers to see if they play any better?
DARKNESS Posted Sunday at 11:59 PM Posted Sunday at 11:59 PM @scbbaI would just disable steady ping if you’re just seeing a variance of 5ms. That’s normal. You’re just adding extra latency for no reason. Steady ping is only needed in specific cases. Rodolfo Lima 1
scbba Posted Monday at 03:13 AM Author Posted Monday at 03:13 AM I did try and it played the same. It doesn’t matter if steady ping in on or off. I may get 1 good connection game a day. What I mean by good connection is when my bullets actually register.
DARKNESS Posted Monday at 10:56 AM Posted Monday at 10:56 AM @scbba Show exactly what you’re seeing, maybe. But I play at 40 ms and cook most above-average players with a 2+ KD, and that’s while playing ranked, not casual pubs. Anyone can have a high KD running through bots nowadays, especially in potato CoD with VM lobbies—wannabe streamers with their little dongle devices. I haven’t touched CoD in ages; I retired after BO4, especially after cheating got so bad with free-to-play. It could also just be a network issue. Have you run PingPlotter results? Rodolfo Lima 1

I don’t really play cod. I play the finals mostly and some times it works sometimes it don’t. My provider uses a cgnat and I paid for a separate one but it never is consistent. I removed the moca and it’s the same as before I’m not sure what’s going on.
DARKNESS Posted yesterday at 08:27 PM Posted yesterday at 08:27 PM @scbbaIf you’re not diagnosing the hops, then I can’t really tell you advice because it might just be placebo. There isn’t supposed to be a difference as you’re just routing your connection through a coaxial outlet, though there is some degradation, it’s minuscule.

I’m starting to think it’s my hop. As hop 3 is around 19 ms and hop 4 is 27 hop5 is around 30 I was hoping steady ping would fix this but it doesn’t. Move to another part of the country doesn’t work because my isp is just in Georgia and Florida.
