reddy Posted July 19 Posted July 19 Been using my XR1000 v1 for the past 2/3 years now been great, still learning new things till this day. Would it be worth upgrading to a R3? will I notice improvements in bufferload/qos? Seen a lot perfer R2 layout better, currently on Fiber 1000 up and 1000 Down! Thanks in advance please list down pros and cons of r3 compared to XR1000 v1! Never owned a Netduma device just my Nighthawk xr1000 with dumaos. I mainly play on a wired LAN PS5 Pro dont really do much PC gaming. Mainly play EAFC25 with a steady 14/18 ping with Dumaos showing my EA FC25 server with 7 ping. Never seen below 10 ping in game, id like to blame EA mainly for slow servers even though ping is stable. I try to eliminate Bufferbloat the best I can. Currently have PS5 On DMZ and UPNP On been testing new feature such as adding "Frostbite Engine (Battlefield, FIFA, etc.)" on my PS5 through "Traffic Prioritization" my question is it worth the upgrade to a netduma r3?
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted July 19 Administrators Posted July 19 In terms of software yes it would be a definite upgrade, the XR1000 won't get DumaOS 4 and we've got some good features coming. Realistically though, you're getting a great ping when gaming, if you're wanting to upgrade to reduce that ping even further, even with DumaOS 4 that's going to be quite hard to do. There will be a limit of what the minimum ping you're capable of getting to the servers is and you're probably not far off. Given you're also just playing one game mainly there isn't much variation you need to do. DOGGAVELI and reddy 2
talbyfish Posted July 25 Posted July 25 It won’t make your game better, still get games when your players are like slugs and can’t pass. That’s on fibre with nobody else in the house which confirms it’s not my internet that’s making the game crap it’s the game. Turn it off in disgust try again later on and the games brilliant for some reason, changed nothing but plays perfect. Next time you play it crap again. am sure you know the score.
Alias 1aB Posted Wednesday at 10:28 PM Posted Wednesday at 10:28 PM Honestly, if you have 1 Gb Fiber, you really don't need DumaOS. You can play online games perfectly fine going through the fiber gateway. With cable internet, the DumaOS is definitely useful and does help reduce latency. But the latency with fiber is already fairly low that you can get away with it. I would wait for Netduma to come out with a router that actually has 2.5 Gb ports on it. My fiber actually comes in at 1.25 Gbps but I cant take full advantage of the bandwidth because of the 1 Gb ports on the R3 which top out at 950 Mbps. And not trying to pile on Netduma guys, the WIFI radios on the R3 are not exactly the best. The XR1000 probably has better range and throughput.
