Thanks for that, what devices do you have connected to ports 1 & 4? Do other devices drop connection when it happens?

It’s now on port 3, but today it’s been on port 1, port 4 and now 3 and all had connection drops..

and the only device connected to the R3 is my pc via Ethernet..

I even installed new Ethernet drivers for my pc and all that..

Hi there,

Sorry about the delay. We're about to implement the fix into a public release firmware, but for now, i'd suggest giving this firmware a go. It's fixed the disconnections issue for most people.

DumaOS-R3-4.0.402.sig 38.94 MB · 1 download

I already had this installed last week… still had issues. And then I went and downgraded and still having issues..

that version will not make a difference..

I was on 4.0.290 like 2 weeks ago, then I updated to 4.0.402 and then that’s when it really started having issues with connection drops.. and then I had to downgrade back to 4.0.290 and still encountering the issue..

this is absolutely frustrating..

since owning the R3 I have needed to reboot or factory reset every week.. at this point we are literally your guys testers for your next product whenever that drops.. 3-4 firmware updates in and still major issues.. it’s truly sad to the consumers perspective..

with the amount of issues everyone encounters daily, I’m surprised no one’s tried filing a class action lawsuit..

id love to go more than 2 days without having to reboot the damn thing!!!

Sorry about the frustration.

Have you been having the issues since you bought the R3? If theres a specific firmware which you remember having that didnt have the drops, I can get that one for you whilst we prep this new firmware.

Are the drops happening over Wi-Fi as well? Or just the device wired into LAN?

I’ve had issues on every single firmware my guy.. that’s where my frustration is coming from..

I don’t use the WiFi on the r3, only device connected to it is my Pc.. nothing else.

I know it’s not my pc that’s the issue as the port light on the r3 goes off each time the connection drops..

I even installed new lan drivers for my pc and such..

and as for as a firmware that I remember that works? No, I’ve got none in mind unfortunately.. had issues on all of them. I wasn’t having connection drops the way I am until I went to 4.0.402 about 2 weeks ago..

went back to 4.0.209 hoping that’ll fix the issue and nope.. still as bad as 4.0.402.

so idk what to do at this point other than taking this baseball bat to it..

I love the concept of the product, but you guys truly rushed this to consumers..

please with your guys next product, be 100000% sure things are working the way they’re suppose to.. we as consumers shouldn’t have to fiddle with the router on a daily bases…

I hardly gotta touch my Asus router..(maybe 2-3 times in the last year)… it should be the same for the r3.. truly mind blowing..

I’ll update again back to 4.0.402 and send over the logs once it disconnects again.. cause ik it will..

I even make sure to factory reset the r3 after a firmware update to make sure things are smooth..

ok, so woke up this morning(same with yesterday) and booted up my pc, and i usually have 940mbps download speed, but theyre down to 90mbps... If i go and switch the ethernet to another port on the router, then it fixes it...

also i went to reboot the router before changing the ethernet port, after doing so, the connection kept dropping on my pc ( and the port light kept going on and off as well on the router)>>>

shouldnt need to change the ethernet port everyday just to get my usual download speeds...

heres the latest logs..

Hi There,

I can see in the logs that when you plug in the ethernet cable, It often is unable to get a LAN IP.

no address range available for DHCP request via br-lan

We believe we've got a fix for this coming in the next Beta firmware (Hopefully Friday). I'll DM it over to you once we've got it and we can see if it fixes your issue.

If you're interested it appears to be a race condition with the DHCP Server: https://openwrt.org/docs/guide-user/base-system/dhcp_configuration#race_conditions_with_netifd
