Came across this topic as I was also looking for some of the older "fine tune" features my XR500 had on the older Duma OS version.

I really hope these fine tune features are brought back so we have a little more control. My XR500 ran really well with traffic prioritization on, QoS off, as I had high down/up speeds so QoS for my case wasn't necessarily needed, but I wanted to keep Gaming at the front so other activities didn't induce any lag.

How did you disable QoS on it in that scenario?

I remembered wrong. It was Congestion Control I personally had off, not QoS.
But, there is the option to Disable QoS (Hamburger icon next to Congestion Control) with exception that some features may not work, which listed are Traffic Controller and Adblocker.

I did like the old Bandwidth Allocation chart and hamburger options (Checking/unchecking share excess bandwidth per device or application).

Just wanted to chime in that some features may appear to be gone or shifted to be working behind the scene in Duma OS 4 without us being able to fine tune like we had on prior OS versions. I mentioned in another post that it may be nice to have some fine tuning for the users.

Set to 100% is fine and you can still do that on the R3. Yeah if you would have disabled it like that nothing on that page would have worked.

I can pass it along. The whole point of SmartBOOST though and the upcoming features is that you don't need to tweak as much.

My experience with SmartBOOST hasn't been as effective as I had hoped. As a self-hoster running a medium-sized game server, I've configured it as the sole priority x5 device. However, whenever someone streams or uploads a video, my server still experiences significant high ping issues.

While I appreciate the flexibility of cherry-picking ports for reserve, I'm bothered that I can't select both TCP & UDP for the same range. What would be really SMART is the option to have SmartBOOST reserve bandwidth of ports that are already port forwarded.

I found the old bandwidth reservation system more straightforward and effective for my needs. The direct approach felt more reliable.

Am I missing something in my setup? Should I be adding every device to SmartBOOST to see better results?

Am I assuming correctly that it dynamically reserves? As in, it only reserves when it detects/triggers with activity requiring the bandwidth reserved?

II literally watched a PC—not prioritized—devour every byte of my upload during a video upload - like every bit my ISP gives me meanwhile my prioritized server was left in its wake.

What do you mean by x5 exactly? Can you provide a screenshot of your priorities please? If you're not using Congestion Control then your network can still become saturated so make sure you have that setup (Ping Optimizer > Advanced) and then SmartBOOST should take care of the rest.

My server is set to top priority is what I meant by x5. Congestion control is setup to reserve some bandwidth, yes. Ping optimizer was also previously ran before this outcome. We are not talking about bufferbloat though, just smart boost not boosting where it should in realtime. Not even congestion control did its job. I tested this by simply uploading a video to youtube from a non-prioritized device while a small group of users were connected to the server. They experienced high ping throughout the duration of the upload.

Congestion Control doesn't reserve bandwidth, it prevents devices from saturating your connection and causing lag, so it is definitely relevant to your situation here, if it was set correctly it wouldn't have been as bad - how is it set currently?

@FLAKI understand what you mean here, I've experienced the same more or less. My congestion control is set to 85%down 65%up, I currently pay for and get 20mbps up and down. Whenever I'm gaming and my son watches youtube on his phone, I would start lagging and when I look at smartboost I see that my sons youtube activity is at 18-20mbps. This does not make sense as I would think the congestion control and smartboost would lower such high traffic not prioritized traffic. Currently my xbox is the only device prioritized at x5 and gaming is the only thing prioritized.

@fraserMaybe smartboost should not only ensure that gaming packets are sent first but also limit the bandwidth being used according to congestion control. If thats the purpose of congestion control, then its not doing it to be honest.

Have you made any Internet Rules or any rules specifically for their device? What traffic shows up when that is happening?

No internet rules for them at all. No specific rules for any devices besides the xbox and gaming priosities. Youtube traffic shows up at that moment with the hight traffic usage.

Can you provide a screenshot of your Congestion Control panel and SmartBOOST please?

Will the option that OP is asking for actually actually be implemented within the R3?

It's unlikely based on how the feature works but never say never
