—user.info com.netdumasoftware.neighwatch: DHCP old event

I’m seeing tons of these events in the R3’s logs like 20 to 30 at a time.
Wasn’t sure what this means. I’m not actually noticing any issues but sometimes not experiencing any issues doesn’t mean they are not occurring.

Hey @PharmDawgg

 Hope your enjoying your fiber!

Usually when one sees DHCP old event its followed by DHCP new lease allocated .. Then sometimes followed by DHCP new event..

Is it normal to see those as much as you are by the sounds of it.. No..  These really should follow what one has set for there release and renew time frame.. But they dont.. They randomly will trigger on there own.. If you have 20 or more devices then one would see alot of those.. But if your continuously seeing those then something isnt really correct.. I also get these alot on the R3.. Even when setting static ips for all my devices I still get them.. Which again one shouldnt..

Heres an example.. If I had my XR500 hooked up right now and have this type of DHCP events always changing.. The XR500 would crash.. That is why I cant even use the XR500.. The DHCP renew starts out with a few just here and there.. But then all of a sudden I start to get them almost none stop.. Then the router basically will start to fail..

I think what happens is it no longer matches the correct Ips to the correct devices because of this continuous DHCP renew.. Something behind the scenes arent matching up! And honestly that might be why it sends out another DHCP event change because the first attempt wasnt successful..  Which would make sense why we get another DHCP event so quickly.. My guess it comes back with cant renew because the Ip is already in use! Or cant match the device.. So it trys to renew again.. Which is this endless loop.. I feel at some point though one would end up either crashing or disconnecting..  Its like running with your shoe strings untied.. Sooner or later your going to trip! lol.

Ive sent some logs over to Fraser the other day in the beta.. I think ive captured some good info for them! I feel it might be directly related to this.. And of course other things as well..

Hope all is well.

Thanks!

Zippy.
