Overwatch 2 Server Possible Mislocation (Oklahoma)

On the Heat Map this location is not shown.  It is usually white but it is red because I got booted for inactivity. I can only connect to this server 9 out of 10 times.  Maybe it is mislocated.  I am really unsure. No big issue just thought I would post.  I thought there was a thread for mislocated servers but I could not find it.  Thanks.

That same server shows up for me when I use ping assist and area based polygon filtering. Never could figure out why, I wanna say it's a Texas dedicated server being shown with a invalid location, or it could be a relay for the Texas dedi's.

I think we're aware of an issue surrounding Oklahoma servers so we'll push out a cloud for that soon

Fraser, I recently stopped being able to connect to a Oklahoma server that I constantly connected to while playing MW3, is this the same server you are reffering to?

I believe it's across any game where there are servers in Oklahoma, not entirely sure what the issue is but yes when the cloud goes out that should help if it's that issue

Only been able to connect to the Oklahoma server. In which the pings are not that bad. ~35-45 ping

When it comes to ping. Yes or at least for me a 50ms ping or lower is ok for me.

When it comes to location. No

Ping Heat map doesn’t show an Oklahoma server. 
Ping Heat map fix in progress or at least I assume.

I think the updates are being rolled out to 50% of people today so you may notice a difference today or may take a little longer.

I started connecting again to the Oklahoma server, I believe the only thing missing now is the Icon on the PingHeat Map 🙂

Sometimes I wonder if the Oklahoma server’s location is incorrect. My ping is always-34ms which according to the ping heat map is the New Jersey/NewYork server.  
 

Also my R3 tries to block it by showing a yellow triangle because I have my ping  assist set to 0-25 and it is outside of my geo filter’s radius, 

But it connects to it any way. I figure it is due to geo-latency being enabled. What do you think. 

Maybe  the R3 does everything in its power to not let you get booted from the game. 😂

Or maybe the R3 only has so much power over these game developer servers.

Well in my experience the Oklahoma server comes in handy because I live in Portugal, I get around 25ms ping (ingame) to the Spanish server and between 38-45ms to the French server. But to the Oklahoma server I get around 25ms too. I also wonder if it is really there, because it’s very far away. i cannot get these pings to any other location in the USA (They are all 100+ms ping)

i also want to add that it has been like this for a longtime not only playing MW3, last year during MW2 I used to use ping assist with my location on the middle of the ocean just trying to force the lowest pings possible, and I remember seeing “Texas” and “Oklahoma” even back then on the Server info section. Since the Spanish Server gives me around 60 hosts back and forth every day (playing solo makes finding lobbies a little slower than partied up) it’s great to have more locations like this

That would be Geo-Latency most likely yes. If you provide the ID I can take a look.

Let me give you all the Server IDS’s then @Netduma Fraser.

Yes they all say “Oklahoma” without a doubt, I didn’t right down any IP or other information, if necessary i’ll do so.

I only got Oklahoma back today so I still don’t have a bigger amount of ID’s because of the small amount time that has passed, and obviously I go back and forth between the locations I mentioned before (exclusively Spain and Oklahoma is what I have set to my geofilter, there’s nothing else I connect to), but if this is indeed the case then here are the ones I got so far, hopefully it can help and I can keep collecting and post them if needed (tell me where to send them if it can help everyone). I’m actually really surprised by that Chile one specifically. I also don’t think I confused the spain ones with the Oklahoma ones, I had my app open and was using the auto-ping feature. Here are the Oklahoma ones, including the ones I wrote before:

I wish there was a way for the R3 or future Netduma routers to grab those IDs so we as a group can better the ping heat map with updating those servers that have incorrect locations.

The Duma team has a form to submit Server ID’s and their IP’s here on the forums, i’m not sure if you seen it. Look for “Mislocated servers” on the search bar and you will find it. I’m thinking of writing them down, since basically it doesn’t take much work on my end, and when I get around 60/70 I will just give them so they can double/triple check if they are okay. As I wrote before, I know with SBMM here on MWIII they eventually become repeats so it’s just a one time thing and eventually there won’t be any need to collect more fot awhile. But, even then, maybe even that wouldn’t be too necessary since I don’t think there are that many mislocated servers. It’s just great to improve my own experience bringing others along in such an easy way 👊🏻

I know we started dabbling with a reporting system on the interface, I'll make a request for that again but we'd always have to double check reports before making them permanent

I included both the spain and texas servers too just incase they are needed.

If asked I will post these in a different file format, i'm not sure if you guys prefer something other than excel here on the forum

No, the spanish ones seem okay, but I decides to include these just incase.

But as we saw before, those Oklahoma ones seem to appear sporadically, and they do provide similar pings to the spanish ones, which makes it strange since they come from those locations you mentioned. The Spanish ones are pretty much guaranteed to be fine. Then there is the texas one, which might be a similar situation to the Oklahoma ones.
